Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Hudson Homes 202Apr 18, 2016 1:05 pm You don't sound crazy. I've had the same issues. I'm sure they're all lovely people working at their head office but they come across very abrupt and borderline rude sometimes. Because I have to micromanage everything they do I feel like I'm constantly annoying them chasing things and asking for updates. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 203Apr 18, 2016 1:16 pm Yes ditto then I feel bad for chasing things up all the time but if I don't mistakes get made. I think they may be overworked also. Harry our site supervisor mentioned he has I think it was 22 or 25 houses he is looking after right now and another supervisor had about 30, that's a massive workload on his shoulders so we were impressed he really took the time to chat to us and not rush us through our walk through and inspection the other day which was really nice. I finally got the correct invoice this morning but it was still dated the 14th can't be bothered correcting anymore, if they query late payment then I will let them know it should have been changed to be dated from today. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 204Apr 18, 2016 3:40 pm Sounds like it is not isolated. I agree, if they checked things before sending then there wouldn't be the wasted time going back and forth. That's my biggest gripe, and the communication needs work! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 205Apr 21, 2016 10:17 pm Yes defiantly more internal communication and checks would be great. Do you still have Sandra lol? We still have Tracey. How is your build progressing? I have just today found out about wall wrapping/sarking whatever its called and been researching it, do you know if its standard with Hudson or not? I can't see it in the contract but theres a Coral on our street that has it so Im wondering if its just something they might just do. Do we even need it for our climate do you think? Also Am4400 and Liz how are you guys progressing? Re: Building with Hudson Homes 206Apr 22, 2016 5:52 pm Yeah we still have Sandra.. Hahaha.. Our frames were delivered yesterday, see how long it takes for them to go up, we were told they deliver the frames one day and put them up the next, though that wasn't the case for you either. We don't get that wrap, in fact nor many builders use it, only seen coral use it. Not sure how much it does but I would assume something! We get darling on the roof standard though which is great! How's yours coming along? Re: Building with Hudson Homes 207Apr 22, 2016 6:01 pm Lol aww okay not sure how we got divvied up there lol. Awesome it's pretty exciting when you get too see the frames hopefully they go up soon for you. I'm kind of glad that not many builders use wrap it makes me feel better lol. Yes roof sarking is great! Ours is coming along really nicely must update the blog lol. As of yesterday our roof was 99% done just needed the second whirly bird and railings to come down and we heard this morning that they have started on our bricks which is wonderful! Roof looks really good though the tilers have done an amazing job putting it up there's definatly an art to it Re: Building with Hudson Homes 208Apr 23, 2016 9:55 am Not sure if they know how/what happened there.. Apparently Tracey emailed us by mistake... Yeah the wrap was something I looked into and then when nearly no other builder used it I was happy to not have added it. Easier to install electrical cables in those cavities without it anyways later on. Great to hear yours is coming along, will need to head over and have a look at it. Have you had a look by any chance at the slab the water tanks sit on? And do you know if the edges have been smoothed off or left rough right to the edge? Re: Building with Hudson Homes 209Apr 24, 2016 12:53 am Aww okay thats weird as when we checked with Tracey she confirmed that yes she's our person from now on. Okay awesome thats good to know lol Yeah we are really happy with it Brickies have laid out the bricks ready to go now too so hopefully they can start soon. Sure no worries you are welcome to have a little look, just stay outside the fences please we don't want to get in trouble lol. Yes we have had a look at it and we are happy with it/how it looks I think its been smoothed off but not sure how it should or shouldn't look lol. If its wrong on the edges please don't tell me, we are happy with it and I don't want to worry over something else if I don't need too lol. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 210Apr 24, 2016 5:30 pm Hmm who knows! hahaha.. We were looking at the block today and noticed they have string lined the slab where the frames are going to go, Couldn't see much from the side where we can look from but could see the laundry and walk in robe at least! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 211Apr 24, 2016 7:52 pm Hi there, My wife and I are considering building with Hudson Homes in Sydney. I noticed that most people that have participated in this thread seem to be building in the greater Newcastle area. I would be interested to hear about the experiences of those that have dealt with Hudson Homes in Sydney? Thanks in advance. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 212Apr 26, 2016 12:31 pm Awesome jhiace hopefully your frames can start to go up today . Hi Hybrid sorry I can't help you with the Sydney area and what it might be like but still feel free to ask us any general questions that might help as yes most of us are in Newcastle area lol. I think maybe if you go back to the first few pages of this thread you might find someone and could message them. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 213Apr 26, 2016 12:41 pm I need to vent!!! I have been chasing our estate developer for nearly two months for a set of drawings (which they provided after a month but sent through the "for approval" copy of the approved design, not the finalised copy of the sewer that was constructed). Now after not replying to all my emails he finally does to say they only provide what he has already sent through. THAT IS WHAT I WANT, JUST AN UPDATED COPY!!! Grrrr Re: Building with Hudson Homes 215Apr 26, 2016 4:23 pm After I replied saying it was basically stupid they told me to contact Hunter Water. Might as well try that this week as we are now waiting on Hudson because..... Drumroll... Even after asking them numerous times not to send their emails to my partner because they won't get actioned they continue to do it and forward variations to me 3 weeks later and tell me to sign it within two days or I will be holding the job up . Will be sending Sandra a lovely email tonight! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 216Apr 26, 2016 6:46 pm Oh the frustrations! Good news for us, started the frames today, full frames are up, and 80% of the roof trusses are up as well. Doesn't take them long!! Hopefully you can get it sorted once and for all so they email the right address! Congratulations Jhiace the frames look awesome your house looks massive lol!! So happy for you with the progress!! We are a little confused after today Hubby just had a look on his way home and we have had brickies on site since last Friday (understandably it was a long weekend so we take that into consideration) but they came from working on a couple of houses up the street that seemed to get bricked up really quickly then worked their way down to ours and after 2 full days we only have maybe 1/4 of one small wall (I haven't seen yet this is according to hubbys inspection). Also we still don't have our second whirly bird/theres a massive hole in our tiles on one side and the railings are still up on the roof and wherever the railing comes down theres a missing tile to allow for the rail to attach so I'm worried about all the rain getting in all these gaps and under the roof/tiles. We just assumed that would all be fixed by now. Also if we have more then one brickie working on our site (which is what was implied that there were a few of them coming down) I don't understand why our brickwork is going up so much slower then the other houses especially as we have had nice weather. Also somebody we have no idea who has attached an aussie flag to our garage (not that we aren't patriotic) but its not their property we have no idea if it was the workers or if somebody snuck onsite and did it but it feels like a violation and now we feel like jerks asking for it to be taken down but again its our property and we don't appreciate other people treating it as though its theirs. Will see how I feel once I see the photos from hubby but not really feeling great about all this right now, might need a few things clarified. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 218Apr 27, 2016 4:52 pm How irritating, I know it isn't long til the brakes are applies to ours too, But for now it is going well and frames are all finished today. I'd love to hear why your bricks are taking forever, every other Hudson has had like 7 brickies on site, wonder what is the go with yours! As for the Australia flag, i'd have that removed also, there is no way that is acceptable! I am all for Australia and the flag on a pole but who and why is someone trying to send a message, and what are they trying to portray by having it there! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 219Apr 27, 2016 5:37 pm Hi Jhiace I'm really glad your frames were finished today Yeah thats what we are wondering too whether they split up and most of them skipped ours and went right to the next project or went on holidays what happened but from the looks of the house we are thinking we only have 1 maybe 2 brickies tops which isn't fair considering every other house has had a million brickies working on it so we are feeling pretty ripped off right now. Yeah I'm really not sure what the go is with the flag the real kicker is that we now feel guilty or bad for asking it to be taken down when it should have never been put up in the first place Re: Building with Hudson Homes 220Apr 27, 2016 5:52 pm Okay so update hubby just got home and I looked over the photos they have made a little more progress then I thought and the flag is not as obtrusive as I thought its more tucked inside the garage (we are assuming it was for Anzac Day). They are probably about half way up and half way along one side of the house from the garage going back. Which I think is fairly reasonable pretty sure heaps more would be done if they had the full team there but we are guessing theres only 1 or 2 of them and they are working hard its a lot of work for only a few people. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 75363 I would never build with Fowler homes.
