Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 19, 2015 10:30 pm We're building with a large builder in VIC. Who typically does the cutouts in the plaster for powerpoints/data points? Our electrical rough in has been done and our builder has given us permission to run additional data points tomorrow but I'm just wondering who does the cutouts once the plaster has gone up? Am running some extra data cables and putting the stud bracket in but am not necessarily wanting the plasterers to cut it out as we were planning on cutting them out on a 'as needed' basis (that way we aren't paying for the wall point until we actually need it). Re: Cutouts - Electricians or Plasterers? 3Jun 20, 2015 9:16 am Some gyprockers will actually go and mark the floor with a line and height above the floor the powerpoint/data point is located before the put the sheets up. I'm not too sure if it is their job or the sparkies job to do that, but since you are building with a project builder I can only assume they set the process as to whom does the marking of the outlet locations. It's pretty hard to guess where things come out after the gyprocking is done, so I'd be asking your SS as to what happens, particulary as you have additional points going in. The gyprocker's won't be the ones who cut out the openings, and will get annoyed if the openings are made if they are anywhere near the jointing, as I I discovered when I was going around behind them making the openings to pull the cables through. Re: Cutouts - Electricians or Plasterers? 4Jun 20, 2015 3:27 pm Thanks guys. Data points are now in and have made notes about where the plates are so we can just go along and do the cut outs ourselves. Hopefully the plasterers are lazy and don't do any cutouts haha |
