The skirting is only along the bottom and the fridge is usually lifted from the ground. I don't think the fridges vent out to the side either (most are at the rear)? The fridge does get warmer on the sides but surely if you have enough clearance on the sides except for the skirting area that would be sufficient? The doors should still open if you're looking at french door fridges because the bottom draw (where the more confined space is) slides outwards

Under the official recommended spec at 20mm instead of 50mm each side, but have plenty of space above in the void behind cupboards. Should work. Cheers [/quote] The thermostat on yr controller says 18oC so best to use another thermometer in the same room and it should show the same temp.
