But I guess home is built to have a base somewhere. Do you have another home where you reside? I know and I think that's one of the worst parts, we'd build and just never know if suddenly they'll be going ahead with it down the track. No we're currently renting about 25mins away. I don't think we have this house in Sydney. Are you converting the powder room to a bathroom? Looking at the plan, I was wondering if it is an easy adjustment? Nice to have a theater as well - with just 2 extra squares. Love how the butler's pantry is so big, and away from the main kitchen. Good idea re cooktop in the butler's I was almost ready to take it out - but glad we left it in! I wanted to add....we just found out from Sheilzy's Hudson build, standard tiling for the kitchen splashback does not cover the sides of the rangehood... so make sure you add this in! We are checking with our CSC so we aren't penalised! Yes we are in Melbourne. We are combining the study and sitting into a full master room. might use the theater for sitting (haven't decided this yet) Re: Splashback in my current Metricon house we dont have splashback behind ranghood and havent seen any issues (with our kind of cooking) so its upto you. Having looked at pictures - I like the splash back around the rangehood. Nice - second Metricon home! You must have had a great experience with them the first time round. How long ago did you build that one? It's not standard up here either. Make sure you add a tv aerial at your electrical appointment, I forgot and now I need to ask my ss to let the installer come and do it. i dont think its standard here in Vic either. but correct me if i am wrong sarking is needed under colorbond not much under tiles ? Re: Building with Metricon 31Jun 18, 2015 9:38 pm Standard seems the vary from state to state, I think the sarking is a added bonus, but we do have tiles and the nice thick batts in the ceiling so it should be fine. I wish we had done sound proofing or insulation between the floors to reduce the thudding from up stairs. So many little things that get missed or thought of to late. We upgraded to include it ($1,655 in our Barkly 29). Tribe7, I am going to have to check about our ariel now - I thought it was included in the external package? I didn't realise they didn't have externals package on the other ranges. Bummer, though in lots of new estates the aerial isn't required anyhow as tv is provided by underground cable. Our tiny estate has underground power (so lovely not to have overhead wires and power poles about, you don't realise what a difference it makes til you have spent time without them) and NBN cabling but not set up for TV apparently. Weird. But I have a question - did anyone go with tinted windows? What was the cost like?
