Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Metricon 8141Dec 04, 2018 9:19 pm My DA approval was sent without my signature and later it came back after a month for resubmission. I found out by calling the DA directly cuz Metricon didn't want to keep my informed. Long story short , It is in your interest to get the approval as early as possible so if there is something missing provide them , if the colour selection needs to be done do it as early as possible not to wait for a meeting to be scheduled. Once the approval comes in that the clock is ticking and metricon would need to complete the file to start construction.
OMG! Maybe that's why they're keeping things to themselves so they dont start construction at this time. Our CSC can also be very rude that's why im being careful with her. She feels like im always rushing things when i try to follow up. For the StudioM appointment, she said we wait for 48 hrs, if no one from StudioM contacts us, i should inform her. Do you reckon we should just walk in for the selection and not wait for it to be scheduled?
Do you mean the selection to satisfy the application requirement : yes , i would suggest you prioritize at your end , afcourse someone has to be there to show the options . It is in your interest to get that out of the way so that application can be resubmitted or the options can be sent to the DA as soon as possible. DA will take minimum 1 week to approve or around 1 month . Once it gets approved like i said then there is nothing pending from your end and they should start construction soon. The contract has a clause " Initial Period " , in Metricon contract it says owner must satisfy the essential matters . Actually, this clause is only to satisfy the financial obligation but they have put a long list of selections which you have no control over. Default number here is 15 days . So once the approval comes, all selections are done then the ball is in their court .
Yes, the selection to satisfy the reqts. Thanks for the advice. How's your build so far? It's not overly confusing, but I do work in the industry, so have some insights. Our area isn't scheduled for NBN build until 2020/2021, and the cable services are still all overhead, so I've got to work the system for the outcome I want... Until NBN takes over the infrastructure where we are, I have to work with Telstra I have an ace card I haven't yet played which is Foxtel cable, so I may have to resort to that, depending on which Telstra division will do the civil works for the least money. Front door = charcoal stained Garage = knotwood wenge Bricks = Austral access chestnut Roof = colour bond monument Gutters down pipes = Monument Windows = Black First floor colour = Grey pebble as recommend by M colour consultant but I am not confident with this colour choice which is going on the first floor as ground floor is all brick.
