My build - viewtopic.php?t=87470 I'm doing flooring post handover. M is painting and affixing all skirting. I asked them to leave off the skirting in areas where we'd put in the hardwood flooring and was told no it can't be done. So I insisted then that it only be "tacked" on in those areas so i can easily pull it off. If you don't specify, they will glue and nail it on, and when it comes time to flooring, you'll ruin the plasterboard. It's ok for the skirting to be fixed in carpet areas though. One other note is that if you are doing your wardrobe cabinetry post handover, I have been told to ask for the top shelf and rail not to be put in either as when you do come to install your own wardrobe solution, The plasterboard will get damaged as they glue and screw that too shelf in too. Is this what others have experienced? Yup, you should be able to tell your SM what your preference is. I had the upstairs skirting all completed by M, and did carpet post, just tell them what height you want the skirting off the ground (ask your carpet guy for ideal height). For downstairs I got M just to measure and cut all the skirting to size and left them in the garage for me. Then I just installed, painted and sealed the skirting myself after I had got tiles in post handover. My auntie got them to paint and tack them in like how NOM has requested. So just speak to your SM and tell them what you want. Shouldn't cost you anything cause it's less work for them. But do keep in mind, it'll cost you $2-3k for a professional to come, install, paint and seal the skirting afterwards. Dulie, I am doing exactly what you are doing except one thing. At contract stage they were refusing to cut the skirts to size and leave it onsite. Will speak to my SM and see if that can be done closer to the date. I too asked for them to just cut the skirting and leave it in the garage during admin stage. I was told no that, they can't build the house without the skirting. I can't see why but must be one of their standard pork pies that they bake there at Head office. This relates to pricing, what options are available to you, what you can do post handover or not etc. My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: Building with Metricon 5770Jul 30, 2017 12:45 pm To my mind, the top of the handles should be at the top of the glass panel they are currently at the bottom of, and the lock should be in the middle of the doors, not offset. It looks like the right hand side door has been damaged at the top, and either the step isn't even, or the left hand door needs cutting to be parallel to the floor. Thanks for your reply Drew I've been tempted to tell you before whenever I see your profile pic, I get creeped out haha. Anyway, agree, the hadles look lower than they should've been imho. I didn't notice the damage to the door, or the level difference! thanks for pointing it out! Will have a closer look when I go this week! Re: Building with Metricon 5773Jul 30, 2017 4:36 pm The gap doesnt really bother me, its always going to be visible when its a white door and white surrounds, I would probably point it out and try to get it made smaller, but wouldn't cause a huge argument over it. But that handle positioning.. that just looks totally wrong and I would insist on having it fixed. Maybe the installer had been watching too much Game of Thrones and thought they were installing door handles for Tyrion Lannister?
