Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Metricon 5581Jun 30, 2017 6:07 pm Question for everyone. As we are not allow to come onsite during the build without the SM. Should you then point out defects as you see them or wait for the scheduled appointment with the SM for the guided tours? If you message him every time you see an issue, he and M will know that you are visiting the site unauthorised and you will get the "letter" i.e. do not enter the site without a representative of M. Just worried that if they left it till later it will be harder to fix the issue What happens following the letter? My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 viewtopic.php?t=86114 Re: Building with Metricon 5584Jun 30, 2017 7:29 pm This is hard one. I think if the issue is something big, and something you could logically see from the street I would call it out. But otherwise maybe leave it. My builder is pretty good about me asking questions.. don't know how your SS would be. When they laid the concrete around my house I noticed the formwork stopped short on one side, but just figured they had to do that later for some reason... didn't mention it, after it was laid, I asked.. and they misunderstood the request.. still waiting for them to come back and complete that section Re: Building with Metricon 5585Jun 30, 2017 7:40 pm Renman stanus Renman wait till the scheduled appt. and point them out. My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 viewtopic.php?t=86114 Nothing apart from them knowing you have visited and telling you not to visit again without authorisation. The aim is to visit the site without them knowing and when you notice some issues note then in your head ring message the SM and schedule a time he can meet you there. At that time suddenly reveal the issues as you walk around. Re: Building with Metricon 5586Jun 30, 2017 7:49 pm stanus Renman stanus Renman wait till the scheduled appt. and point them out. Our first appointment is is around two weeks, having a 9-5 job it's not always easy to be free when they are to visit it the site. Get one online from Qld... Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building with Metricon 5593Jun 30, 2017 11:23 pm You can get them online issued via QLD but you'll need to complete a stat dec signed by a JP before they'll issue it. If you have a good SM, they won't care that you go onsite. Ours is great and said he didn't mind but that if he was onsite he would need to stay with us. It's just a duty of care thing. I have a white card too, so keep it with me in case someone's there (which they never are as I tend to go after work or on the weekend). M have their own induction card too but you only need that if you're working onsite. My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 viewtopic.php?t=86114 Our SM is very efficient, though is very defensive when I raise any issues. I had to go over his head a few times because he was frustrating me so much. All the best with your build and don't be afraid to address any concerns. You are paying the builder a lot of money to build your home. You are their boss and they need to work for you. I think as long as we are polite and respectful, they need to listen and address any concerns as they arise.
