My build - viewtopic.php?t=87470 Re: Building with Metricon 5482Jun 09, 2017 1:34 pm PVBuild Renman, ask for your engineering documents. Should have a full drainage plan for both ag drains and retaining wall drainage. We have about the same retaining as you, and have a huge amount of drainage all around the house & garden. Was pretty happy when I saw that. Metricon did some of our retaining in concrete sleepers (underpinning neighbour's garage). We did pay for it though, would have been cheaper in timber but we wanted longevity. I was expecting timber and didn't even know concrete was even an option until i saw it on site. Looks like we have the same issue, in the end M did a probe underneath the neighbour's property and concluded that we didn't need to do the underpinning which saved us $11k. I was worried because M isn't doing the retaining wall at the back that they won't be doing a pit. Lucky this is now sorted What sort of landscaping are u going to do around the area of the cut? My build - viewtopic.php?t=87470 Had to ask for it separately. Was good timing because I actually ask for a copy of it yesterday because the independent inspector requested a copy of it for his inspection. Re: Building with Metricon 5484Jun 09, 2017 3:19 pm Renman, here's a concept image - the sandstone look will be a mix of hard & soft surfaces. We have 4 ag drains across the backyard in front of the retaining, and 4 down the side of the house (in front of the brick wall and near the fence). What software are you using for the concept drawing? Want to do the same to our landscaping so help the wife visualize it. Re: Building with Metricon 5487Jun 10, 2017 9:44 am PVBuild I've paid a landscaper to do it for us! He's plans only; about $1700. Have met with him 3 times so far, another revision today. Doing a very good job. Nice. Will you get him to do the actual build as well or will you take his plan and get separate contractors to do the work? Re: Building with Metricon 5489Jun 10, 2017 10:12 am That's a good price just for the consultation. I got quoted $5k for landscape drawings for the whole house. Re: Building with Metricon 5490Jun 10, 2017 10:20 am Yeah, I found a lot of the landscapers who do plans + construction were a percentage based price if you just wanted plans. Which is why I went with this guy - he's really reasonable, has provided a draft planting list and elevations of all sides of the property. Pretty cool. Let me know if you want details. Re: Building with Metricon 5491Jun 10, 2017 10:26 am I'll message you for his details. Did he do the drainage etc too? When putting up a common timber dividing fence, who gets to choose on opting for the flat side? I tried reading up the guidelines here in QLD, but there is no clear indication on who gets to choose. Suggestions? Re: Building with Metricon 5499Jun 12, 2017 6:13 pm qldben I wasnt sure where to ask this, so hoping to get some feedback from this group. Suggestions? We just asked our neighbours and they were fine. Suggestions? In NSW if you have a pool and the fence is part of the pool enclosure then the neighbour should get the flat side. My local council told me this or else the cross beams will be classified as foot holds and the fence will not pass compliance unless you have them amended.
