Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Metricon 8445Apr 01, 2019 1:16 pm Yes, Metricon patently Mis-represents at the point of sale the the quality of workmanship that their building process delivers then pressures customers to accept it if they complain. This is a considered and systemic process by Metricon and not a one off incidence. Re: Building with Metricon 8446Apr 01, 2019 1:18 pm Simeon McGovern Affordable Custom Homes, We design and build to your budget Ashington Homes www.ashingtonhomes.com.au Re: Building with Metricon 8447Apr 01, 2019 5:04 pm I think this form of deceptive advertising is fairly common amongst volume builders,by law I would make them place a as displayed price twice the size and in bold clear colour against a much smaller from price . I have yet to see someone who has signed on for a as displayed build actually get everything displayed in similar quality, three friends I know all had trouble with getting a home like displayed, all though they sighed to build and payed as displayed,it's like dealing with john Wayne gasy( murdered 33 boys),you just can't trust almost anything your told. Re: Building with Metricon 8448Apr 01, 2019 5:53 pm Norfolk Metricons own brickwork report prepared by the building manager said it was one of the worst brickwork Jobs he had seen! This was confirmed by the NSW department of fair trading and 2 independent inspectors. Man I wish I had perfectionists like yours at my place... This a strategic business decision they have made about process and resource allocation to maximise cash flow and profits. Look at how well metricons marketing, social media and sales functions are resourced! Even their accounts receivable is super efficient. Metricon knows they cannot normally deliver a house to minimum building standards within the agreed contract build time. Let alone deliver a house that matches the workmanship of the samples (display homes) that they show customers. Under Australian consumer law this practice is illegal. The law applies to all consumer goods and services. Metricons behaviour Is deceptive and unethical. Metricon knows that once their customers sign the ‘standard’ contract they have little chance of enforcing their rights to get what they have been promised and have paid for. So they do what they please in their own good time. Phone calls and emails are ignored. Court action is time consuming, expensive and risky against such a large company and the state governments have very limited ability to enforce their own laws and regulations, and building standards. Beware, what you see in the glossy brochures and display homes is probably not what you will get!

That may well be but I really enjoy a tussle and have the tenacity and capability to just chip away at it. Maybe I'll never get compensated for their shady practices but I get the satisfaction of being a thorn in their side. I don't take kindly to being metriconned. 😆 Re: Building with Metricon 8451Apr 04, 2019 2:55 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Can anyone advise if you have a power point in place for your range hood? Re: Building with Metricon 8460May 04, 2019 8:39 am Any advice for dealing with M randomly disqualifying defects logged through the portal? We have two main ones, damaged carpet and damage to our stacker door and they have disqualified them. This damage was not present at PCI but was at handover and we logged them as instructed. They're saying we should have told them at handover but we were told to log everything and did so in good faith that they would be fixed. The excuse is that we could have caused the damage, bit you could say that about other issues that they are fixing Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
