We are considering having our alfresco done post handover, that is, have M lay the alfresco slab with the rest of the house but do the roof supporting structure post handover. This isn't really cost driven, the two main reasons is that we are concerned a large alfresco roof will block too much light coming into the house so we are considering having either fixed or adjustable louvre roof and we prefer having the outdoor area built with exposed timber posts and beams to make it feel like we are outside, not part of the house. Contrary to what most people would probably like.
Anyone share their experience going down this track?
Hello. We extended our alfresco quite a bit. Slab was poured by m same time as slab. We paid a little extra for this reason, wanting it all as one, then waiting to do it after.
We also had the same concerns as you with light. From all feedback it was going to fine with light. I’m still skeptical. So have to wait and see when lower roof goes on.
I still much rather have it under main roof but everyone to there own. Good luck
