Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Metricon 6542Nov 05, 2017 6:08 pm I recall (from a few months ago) someone building with Metricon had transparent glass on their front door and applied a translucent/frosting film. Would anyone recall which thread that was in? I'm in a similar situation and would just like to see what product they used and how it was applied. Thanks Re: Building with Metricon 6543Nov 05, 2017 6:58 pm Hi all Has anyone upgraded the stacker door to timber frame instead of standard aluminium frame. Could you please share rough costs? Thanks Re: Building with Metricon 6545Nov 05, 2017 7:11 pm Clean Timer stacker door -paramount -Trislide in lieu of Allu (2100x3502) $1,210 (2400x3502) - $1,970. Hope this helps. Thanks. It really helps. Re: Building with Metricon 6547Nov 05, 2017 8:42 pm DRT Hi all Has anyone upgraded the stacker door to timber frame instead of standard aluminium frame. Where do they draw the line with such an incompetent supervisor and where is this quality that they promise all over their website? I had the exact same thing - I feel your pain. Attended my PCI with a special manager they flew in From QLD, And heaps of stuff not done or missing like no gas meter, electric point missing in island, no water tap in fridge void, poor render and paint job, no smoke alarms. I politely said no sign off till everything fixed. Then I get an email from the NSW General Manager telling me bad luck, they consider PCI achieved. I wrote back and said no chance, many of the items are essential and you without them they won’t even get an IOC. I can’t believe the level of incompetence and unprofessionalism shown by even the GM! What a toad to send such an aggro email. I really wish I hadn’t built with M in NSW. Absolutely disgraceful. Even worse the SM who resigned gave me a massive download on all the issue they’re facing internally and how the SMs have no control over large sub contractors who are doing poor work and getting paid regardless due to it being part of the deal done by HQ. Hence the need for lots of reworks and build time blow outs. Where do they draw the line with such an incompetent supervisor and where is this quality that they promise all over their website? That's certainly not good to read. In these situations, as buyers, are we able to stop paying invoices until prior stages are fully fixed? Seems money is the only motivator in these situations. Yes, Do not pay any invoice until the work has been done. Of course you must have an independent building report to rely on. I have done this the entire build. Many of the SS’s use the report as a means to get trades back to fix their work. Some of the SS’s find it hard to be confrontational with trades on workmanship issues so having an independent report alleviates this problem. Sounds ridiculous right, but I guess it’s human nature. Just wondering how long did it take you to go through council with DA at Ryde Council? About 6-8 weeks for us before they replied asking for more info. All up it was around 12 weeks before we got the approval - you can track progress using the online application system on the Ryde website. Metricon Liberty 45, Ryde NSW http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=82846 Ours is about the same, all up around 3 and half months, but a friend of mine got approval less than two months Fabulous thanks heaps for the info. We have not signed the tender yet as we are not happy with the changes in the house which our sales guy did not point out!!! Reduction of garage length 1m which affect the room up stairs & would luckily fit a double bed in it now! I can't believe he did not point this out! I expected a very different result building with M. I am requesting the licence number of the tilers because I guarantee they don’t have a licence to tile. The work is shocking. We now have to get our portico tiles ripped up. Can you PM with the GM name? He is apparently calling me today. I talked to my ss other day. I asked him if he picked his tradies as he seems to have a few of them with different jobs at same time and the workmanship seems to be great. Even going by what my private inspector said. He told me he does. He then said if they can’t do the job right. He tells them sorry I have to let you go. Honestly so far I can’t fault him. I wish everyone had him. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Building with Metricon 6555Nov 06, 2017 1:19 pm My SS said the same thing, they get to pick the tradies as the database is huge. Our last SS resigned, the new one is going to use a deferent carpenter to fix the defects as last one wasn't doing a good job Re: Building with Metricon 6556Nov 06, 2017 2:22 pm LibertyNR My SS said the same thing, they get to pick the tradies as the database is huge. And let them go if they are not doing a good enough job. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Building with Metricon 6557Nov 06, 2017 3:11 pm Question for wardrobes, I have notice in the plans that the width of a wardrobe is 500. I had robes put in my home and the width is 620. I thought a standard robe has draws for 600. Did anyone change there depth of robs? Re: Building with Metricon 6558Nov 06, 2017 3:23 pm PVBuild There's a difference between inspector and surveyor, what Metricon want you to use is their surveyor (certifier). We're using Metricon's surveyor as it just makes things easier with going through council etc, but have our own private inspections. Expect to pay around $2,500 in total for an inspection at every invoice stage. Re: Building with Metricon 6559Nov 06, 2017 3:28 pm PVBuild excited_builders Drew01 Irrespective of who does your demolition, make sure in Melbourne you hire the temporary fencing from AIM Hire, as they are who Metricon use, and they take on the hire after the first 6 months until the end of the build Thanks Drew so did not know we had to hire the fencing...thought that was taken care of by demolition co n metricon.... Our temp fencing was taken care of by the demo crew and Metricon. 2 different sets, included in the pricing. We used Apollo Demolition in Metro Melbourne. They were very good and did it in 2 days, with asbestos clearance certificates. Our sales consultant at Metricon recommended them.
