Regarding us, we've purchased land in the Willowdale estate in Sydney's Camden region and is due to register in June 2017. At the moment, we've engaged M and put down $1k deposit, we looking to build the Laguna 33. The preliminary tender will be ready early next year. We also have tender with MJH and Mojo although might be a bit outdated. Got 2 questions for everyone building with M at whatever building stage you're at; 1. do you think your experience would have been better/positive if you had chosen a different builder? 2. do you think your experience would have more positive if you had made minor to almost no changes to the original plan (i.e. structural, internals & externals etc.)? Thanks in advance. 1. I don't know the answer to this but I certainly hope so. Metricon have an extremely high staff turnover / staff changes. Since walking into their office I have been handed over to at least 6 different office staff before getting to construction. Our first CSC was apparently too busy to deal with us after we signed up. Our second one got us to contract signing with multiple errors. We were then passed on to about 5 different office staff before our file got to construction. Once in construction we have gone through 3 site supervisors, 2 construction managers and 2 office based construction support staff. Mind you we aren't even at lockup yet. I could seriously write a book about Metricon with multiple suggestions for improvement on every level. Don't want to scare you but have to be honest. I never thought Metricon would be so disorganised. 2. Definitely. Had I gone with a stock standard plan with minimal changes the process would probably have been smoother. Changing my windows alone to non standard took about 3 months alone. Good luck with it all, despite all the headaches it is exciting to be building a new home. Hope fixing the damage doesn't set us back too far in the build. Wouldn't be too concerned with the floor but the walls is a different story. Hopefully you can get this resolved. Building with Metricon 4197Dec 29, 2016 12:05 pm skami Go to the FB page and message them ? Yes that's a great idea, I thought I'd give the site supervisor a chance to respond but if I don't hear anything back that will be my next course of action as the office is closed down also with no emergency contact number available. Luckily the main water supply is closed now but I haven't been out there to check on things yet as I'm at work. M is offering appliances by Elba (Fisher & Paykel) which don't have any good reviews. Any idea how much it costs to upgrade? Does M offer credit if you don't want the appliances? Thanks Building with Metricon 4199Dec 29, 2016 10:04 pm Hi All. With our recent downpour we had today in Melbourne we thought we'd take a visit to the land to check if it was flooded. So I've shared some pics for any experts in here to ask what causes this? This is our neighbours side the water was pouring out of the gutter. Or is it the norm? Thanks in advance. Re: Building with Metricon 4200Dec 29, 2016 10:07 pm This is because you have a roof full of rain running into the gutters and then out the downpipe holes as they don't have the plastic running into their pipes to take the water into them. I think your block should be ok as you have plenty of stuff around it to keep the water from sitting puddled near your slab?
