Hi Everyone,
We are in the early stages of a custom build in Perth. By early stages I mean still trying to decide on a builder and final floorplan. We have narrowed it down to two though (Goldstyle and Riverstone).
Anyway we are after a general (up to date) opinion from Perth people about brick Veneer / lightweight construction in Perth now that a few other builders are starting to try them (101 residential etc)
So I like brick Veneers and stud walls better because
- You can easily adapt to technology changes or that forgotten power point or light switch location.
- WiFi works everywhere in bigger houses too.
- Allows for more choice in door and window architraves rather than the stock metal ones everywhere in Perth.
- With modern insulation they are a smarter option in Perth climate.
- Easy to fit Cavity Sliders / wall niches etc.
The only benefit of double brick that I see is acoustics.
Anyway one of the builders will build us brick veneer the other won't. However they both warned of the same thing that it will really hurt us if we come to sell it as Perth people don't like them and still tap walls to check. We aren't planning on selling it for at least 10 maybe 15 years so I am of the opinion that Perth population will change their mindsets by then and not want big heavy double brick houses.
Anyway I am after a general consensus on whether or not it would turn you off buying a house in Perth if it was brick veneer and stud wall internal rather than full brick.
Cheers
