we've got a bad experience about simonds that we'd like to share...
we set up an appointment to get a quote for one of their houses and
after going through everything, including walking through the display,
we allowed them to get a copy of our credit card for a deposit on the
(verbal) agreement that they'd give us another couple of days to really
decide whether to go ahead or not.
that was on a sunday. even before mid-week, we already gave the guy
a call to say that we're having doubts and we'd like more time to think
about it and he said that's fine and to just get back to him once we're
ready. just to double-confirm, we even asked him to be clear that we're
not going to be charged anything on my credit card yet until we decide
and he said 'definitely'.
a week and a half later, we checked our card and found out that the
deposit had already been charged and that the transaction date was
on the day that we actually spoke to him to put things on hold.
now, we're trying to reach him to clarify what happened and to get our
money back in full. we've obviously learned our lesson about swiping
cards, etc and at the same time about dealing with simonds. hopefully
we'll sort this out without having to argue or go through any hassle.
