Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Aveling homes 2Jun 16, 2015 2:03 pm Hi Toddzilla, We are building with Aveling, but it's a custom build because we are subdividing our property. House has just reached lockup a couple of weeks ago. For the most part we have been happy, it has been a very difficult build because it is so close to existing house, sloping ground etc etc. Most of the gripes have been with tradies/subcontractors being slack in particular the grano guys (the slab looked rubbish but apparently was within acceptable limits) and brickies (chucking their rubbish all over the place, finishing before lunch or not turning up at all) and the roof guy who installed the down pipes leaving sharp strips of zincalume and nails all over the site/road/footpath. To be fair the other guys installing the roofing cleaned up their mess as well as all the accumulated rubbish from the brickies, cudos to the roofing team. We feel that progress has been good, sometimes it seems like nothing happens for ages and then a heap of stuff gets done. Five months from slab down to lockup is pretty good from what I have heard. Will be really glad to get in when it's finished! Tried to post this using my old user ID but can't remember the User name so can't reset the password :0( Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74510 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
