Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 03, 2015 10:44 am At some stage in a year or two we may be getting a pool but we really aren't too sure just yet. Our slab is getting poured in two days and the builders have again asked whether we are putting in a pool or not. If we are, they want to put piering at the back of the house where the pool will be. Has anyone had this done before and what have you been charged? Is there any other way around having to have piering at the back of the house? We have 5.5 metres to our back fence and 5 metres to our side fence, does anyone know how far away the pool has to be so that piering would not be required? We would only get a lap pool. They advised that the pool should be a minimum 1.5m away from the house to avoid piering. We are running our lap pool along the side and it will be close to the house so we are getting that side of the house with extra piering. We have been told around $90 per square metre. Thanks in advance! The same from the edge of the pool excavation as the pool excavation will be deep. so assuming the pool close to the house is say 1.2m deep the excavation will be around 1.5m so the pool will need to be a bit over 1.5m from the house.
