Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 01, 2015 8:01 pm Hi, Im after some advice from anyone who can help We have found a Dechellis plan we really love except for the kitchen. We walked through another Decehllis home on the weekend and really loved that kitchen. How easy or difficult will it be to take that kitchen and put it in our home? Im thinking we will lose living space which may mean we might need to move the back wall out more? And move the laundry in-between the garage and master bedroom. Can anyone help? Bad idea? Will it be fairly expensive? These are the two plans Vogue is the one we want Oxford is just the kitchen http://www.dechellishomes.com.au/resour ... 00x692.jpg http://www.dechellishomes.com.au/resour ... 00x692.jpg Thanks Mel Re: Making changes to plans 2Jun 01, 2015 9:19 pm One of the issues with the vogue is that it's quite wide, and hard to use the centre space. The idea of the retreat is to fill up some area that doesn't have access to external windows. One thing you can do is move the robe of bed 2 in to where the WIL is, and then rotate the WIL, and put it where WIP is, but with the door off the hallway. That saves 600mm out of the length by moving the kitchen forward. You could then rotate the laundry, making it long and thin, with the door off family., then put in the Oxford kitchen between the laundry and hallway. It will shrink the meals / family by about 800mm. If you stepped that area back, you could expect to pay around an extra $5000 from the extra area. You could save a bit by putting a smaller ensuite like the oxford, and pull the other side back by about 1 metre. Doing that, you could then think of putting the alfresco in the corner created between the home theatre and meals. I engaged my builder in December last year and we’ve been working on preliminary drawings for last couple of months. I got a call from the salesperson this morning… 0 588 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6895 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 |
