Still hanging out Mr G. Get the Mrs onto it Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 242Jun 01, 2016 7:31 pm TomCat goody59 I do have NBN. I will try and take some pics to post next week. ? Still hanging out Mr G. Get the Mrs onto it Fair call. My bad. I will try and take some new finished product photos tomorrow. All but my front yard is done now. That is the easy part. I will try to place them in photobucket. I have an account that I had set up for me and one of my kids helped me place photos from camera to pc into photobucket in the past. I will try it myself then after that, get them onto forum in my thread if I can. That is the hard part for me and thus why I haven't done it yet. Sorry TomCat. All my work inside is done- curtains, lighting inside and out, flooring with skirting fitted and painted. My WIR still temporary but useable and presentable. Hers was done with the build. My shed is not built but it has a slab ready for it. All my concreting for drive, paths and apron around entire house done and dusted. My caravan has a home beside my garage and I picked it up from Mum's just this week to bring it home. Our side fence is incomplete only because new neighbour is yet to build his garage wall on the shared boundary. The caravan will be parked between the two garage walls behind the double timber merbau timber picket gates. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 243Jun 01, 2016 7:43 pm Lilblue Hi Goody, how was your overall quality of the build? I'm also building with Simonds but I feel like it's all bad reviews on them ??? i You only ever hear the bad issues that arise. Don't despair. I am so happy with this house. Of course there was issues along the way but they got sorted one way or another. We have a beautiful well built house. I am satisfied that the house is well build to last out our days. I will make sure it is maintained and that the slab is cared for like a new born baby. If the slab fails you are in trouble but if correct owner instructions are adhered to it will be fine and I am built on reactive clay too. It looks fantastic and people the view it rave about how nice it is. My wife decorated the house and picked all the colours and finishes. It has come up so well I can hardly believe it. I am going to take some new photos tomorrow and try and get them posted on my thread to finish thread off. Simonds Homes can build a good house so don't worry too much. Keep a close eye on your build along the way. Ask questions, check everything. I have a good head for building so I guess I am lucky. If you can't do it yourself employ a good building inspector to look on your behalf and pick up issues as they arise so they can be corrected before they get covered up. Finally, good luck and enjoy the ride! Edit. If you want, private PM me and you can come for a tour of our house as I just saw where you are building- you are just behind me. My boundary at rear fence is stage 24B Aurora. Theo was my SS and Lauren at Simonds South Morang our cc. Both good people. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 244Jun 01, 2016 7:51 pm Simonds are fine, my house is lovely. They do try really hard to make you happy. Building sucks, it's not like the normal world, but you'll love your home. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 245Jun 01, 2016 11:57 pm Good words Goody and Kylie. I love my house very much too. We got there too You've done a fantastic job by the sound of it, yipee. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 246Jun 02, 2016 7:30 pm I just took about 100 photos TomCat, now to get some into my photobucket account which I can achieve but then the challenge for me will be me getting some of them onto my thread. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 249Jun 03, 2016 12:47 pm Done! Cheers for the vote of confidence. It wasn't as hard as I first thought to add a heap of pics for anybody who was wondering if I ever really built a house. Now the pics are there to prove that I did build a house and have it mostly established. There is a deck to go over Alfresco right out to the retaining walls I built. There is a garden shed to go behind where caravan is parked. There is retaining wall to be built in front yard landscaping design. You guys mustn't know why to do with yourselves and all that room! I'm going to have to load your thread up on the PC for a proper look (that tub! Love your facade colours!). I'm so impressed with how everyone is decorating their places! Ours is still bare and a jumble of old furniture. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 254Jun 03, 2016 1:56 pm It came together nicely. I looks better IMHO better than what was displayed by Simonds Homes at Ashton Estate Craigieburn where we first saw the Hudson. I like our ensuite layout that we had changed out from display and my quasi study in WIL off the laundry that was not in display house either. We added a second WIR behind the bed in main bedroom as per what all were doing on "The Block" because we didn't need the room size for main bedroom as displayed. The room is still plenty big enough for the two of us and now we have two WIR for main bedroom. There is only 2 of us living in house. I am a shift worker and wanted a quiet sleep location at rear of house for main bedroom. Doors for closing off theatre room, WIR and butler's pantry were essential for our thinking. Sliding robe doors for the other two rooms too as they were not big rooms and sliding wardrobe doors don't eat into the room. Originally we wanted a servery to outside in butler's pantry but Simonds stuffed that idea up during the build. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 255Jun 03, 2016 2:46 pm Your house looks beautifully presented. Love the colours and decor. Well done in getting it to look so good in such a short amount of time Building with Dennis Family Homes Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 258Jun 05, 2016 7:35 pm cooper229 Absolutely stunning.. It does look better than the Ashton display. Very dreamy! Did you have your plantation shutters installed after handover? I had all the blinds, drapes and shutters made by a Homeone forum sponsor- I seek blinds in Thomastown. Mike from there and his crew were fantastic. I measured up, he had all made up and I fitted everything. I saved a bundle and everything fitted perfect! All done after handover. Re: Simonds Homes- Hudson (Aurora Wollert build thread) 259Jun 05, 2016 7:54 pm Looks great, love the external greys and the area for the van to be kept, we are doing something similar and looking at different gate options at the moment.
