Frustrating that there's still problems though I don't get how these contractors can think that it's acceptable to leave things the way they do! Frustrating that there's still problems though I don't get how these contractors can think that it's acceptable to leave things the way they do! Yep the problem is a contractor will be booked in. They turn up on site and do their job with no SM onsite most of the time so they do what they think should be done get paid and move on. Then either we or SM come along and find not everything was done so have to re book someone. For example, I happened to be onsite the day they were doing plaster at mine and they were just boarding up areas that didn't even have insulation. Even worse, bits of insulation were falling out and they weren't even bothering to put it back in. Terrible standard of building. Makes we want to just save all these pics to an ipad and then stand outside kellyville on a weekend and show people this is how they cut corners and cost on their builds. All those people looking around with no idea. Metricon do have a Facebook page you can comment on, it's getting full of customer rants. We've been told that M "don't recess their gas hot water system" as I have a lovely one bolted onto the side of the house. Any one able to confirm if they have theirs recessed into the wall? Pictures would be great, Otherwise it's a trip up to kellyville to check again......might take that spare iPad with me... Build thread: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78995[/quote] I asked about encasing the 26L Thermann and having it recessed like i this pic from a neighbour who did a Custom Build. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was told M do recess them like this but only where you are in a coastal area due to the salt. I said ok, how much for an upgrade and they said well there'll be an Admin fee of $1.5k. *sigh* So I gave up and thought I'll wait till it breaks and put in a proper Rheem 32L one and get it encased then rather than spend that. Whilst we're discussing Hot water heaters... Did you know that under their current Standard inclusions, if you have a house with 3 or more bathrooms in the STANDARD design, they will provide an additional water heater unit. That means by implication that people like me who converted their powder room to have a shower (so 3 bathrooms with showers in total) essentially have an underpowered system with the current 26L Thermann. Converting powder to shower doesn't automatically upgrade the hot water system. I had to ask for it and pay the difference. It's one of the thing that was mentioned numerous times on 'things you forget' forum. I'm currently push forward with just a general level of "god damn, I've got 168 issues, that I keep finding without any proactive management from a SM, CM or AM! Please just get them fixed (including the recessing of the gas water heater!)"
