Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 29, 2015 12:40 am Hi Everyone I've been reading a lot of stories on this site now for a while. Myself and partner have just purchased a block of land in Meadow Springs and are now at the stages of finalising our design (we are building with Home Group WA.) I was hoping to get a few opinions as to what to expect at Pre-start.. Has anyone gone with the standard tile inclusions? Or would you recommend changing them. As this is our first home we are on a budget! My partner likes the dark grey tile however I'm not sure if this is too dark throughout the house. Could you please also advise what the approximate cost's are for upgrades such as light switches, power points, tiling, doors etc.. It would help us out a lot! Will post pictures of our journey once it all kicks off Thanks! Re: First Home Owner/Builder 2May 29, 2015 7:54 am I think they always offer a certain range. If you are on a budget carefully go through their basic offer. Roof Tiles, inside fittings, façade etc etc - can be quite OK. Your builder should be able to provide you with upgrade costs - they often have alternatives. BUT - it will cost. Budgets are VERY important - but if you are living in a house for - say - 10+ years - then you also need to have things you like. Compromise is the name of the game. You can also improve the house as you go along. Take the basic now and improve the house as you live in it and your wages improve. We've had a look at the standard inclusions which look quite nice so we are happy with that. My main concern was just the tiles... I'm unsure as to what colour to go with as there are only four choices. I know my partner would like the dark grey but I'm just scared it will close in the house. SO many decisions........... : Re: First Home Owner/Builder 6Jun 07, 2015 5:02 pm Hi thanks for your help!
