So sorry for going AWOL for a while..... been busy and Tapatalk managed to log me out and I did t realise so didn't get notifications! @Jelbell55 Everything is going well! We went to lockup end of Nov and at present all the kitchen cabinets etc are in just waiting on bench tops. The tiling starts Monday so have a meeting Monday morning with the tiler. @kapes0120 Yeah we have a new sup to..... seems nice enough and just as knowlegable as the last guy! Was told it could all be done by end of Feb as well which is about 7 weeks earlier that expected! My biggest issue now is the bloody concrete company I was going to use for my aggregate and paths!!!! They still haven't managed to meet me to discuss and quote the job. Grrrrr. I feel like I need to get this hammered down rather soon to allow scheduling considering none of the other 10 jobs I need to do myself (lighting, tiling, carpet, splashback, decking, skirting, curtains, tinting, bifolds) all need the driveway down first!!!! The thing is, these guys are top notch and apart from charging $85 sq/m, they were also open to discussing a cash job. Does anyone have any suggestions on good concreting guys who do aggregate and limestone paths????? I know there are heaps but some are not to flash.... like the guys who did my neighbours.... patches where no aggregate is showing and others where heaps is so it's like walking on sharp rocks!!! Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 83Jan 03, 2016 2:20 am Ewwww that means they didn't bring all the rocks to the surface properly when they were screeding it. Honestly I'd rather pay more and get quality than go for a cheaper company and take the risk it could be an unprofessional job. We used Allwest decorative concrete and they did an incredible job of our honed aggregate. All the stones are right on the surface and when it was honed it looks unreal. You can see pics of it on my thread. Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 85Jan 04, 2016 12:49 pm I'm help on the aggregate front unfortunately, we were looking at a couple for aggregate only, can't remember the names though so that's no good! Glad to hear that Allwest did a good job OHB - may look at a quote from them How long has your build taken from slab down to now out of interest? I hope ours goes just as fast! Had tiling meeting this morning and looks like I will get him to lay my floor tiles as well since his price was super competitive! Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 88Jan 12, 2016 8:58 pm So..... need a little advice for anyone who has had electrical issues before! Our kitchen cabinets and benchtops went in recently and we noticed today that one of out double power points is hard up against the cabinet work instead of being in the middle of the space!!!!! This is the bench with the gas hotplate so I have a DGPO either side and the left one is centred.... How hard is it for the builder to rectify this issue??? I am assuming they can simply re-route the electrical cable left a bit and then patch the plaster (which shouldn't matter much as I am having glass splashback) but what about the electrical wall box??? Anyone had this sort of fopar fixed before??? I am not sure if it would be different on a single brick wall if that is where yours is? Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 91Jan 13, 2016 10:15 am Not too sure then awcarroll, I really hope you will be able to get it moved... fingers crossed your SS has some solution..... Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 92Jan 13, 2016 10:17 am I'm sure he will. I recon they will hust cut a new box and run the electrics sideways then patch it all up. I would have thought the moment the cabinetry went in that they would have questioned the positioning! Its lucky they even had room to put the face plate on!!! Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 93Jan 18, 2016 10:47 pm I hopefully have a meeting with my sup tomorrow cause I have a few issues!!!! They moved the power point but it's still not right, a lot of my arteor powerpoint have clunky switch mechanisms in them and the top part of my toilet cisterns have rubbish fit and finish!!! They are the small issues..... then there is the bloody sewerage inspection points (2 of them!) They seem to think it looks good putting them in the centre of your front yard so I want them moved! Also, they put the smoke detector smack bang in the centre of my entrance hallway where I want to put a feature light.... the plan has it there but not in the centre, it's meant to be about 2 feet left. And finally, they have made my light switch in the entrance hall a hideous block mounted jobbie like you would find in your garage!!!!! WTF Dale Alcock!!!!! As if this part of the build wasn't stressful enough!!! This is an example of what a block mounted switch looks like..... not something you want in your hallway!!!! And I have pictures that show there was a wall box there so God knows why they put this monstrosity in..... Hopefully your ss can sort it all out for you. Sometimes it's like they don't even think about the placement of things, I'm sure they wouldn't put them in the same place if it was their home. As for the light switch it should be an easy fix but no idea why they thought to put that one in to start with Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 95Jan 18, 2016 11:24 pm Thanks Kaitie, I sure hope so! I remember them telling me all block mounted switches would be in the garage not in the home and it looks truly stupid in a nice home! I was starting to worry I was just being picky but now I figure I am paying near on $400k for a house I'll be as picky as I want!!!!! I also went out the front door today and something is wrong with that as well..... to shut it I needed to slam it pretty hard so something has happened there. Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 96Jan 19, 2016 9:22 am Sorry to hear about the issues... hopefully your SS sorts everything out for you. Could you please let me know how you go with getting them to move the sewerage inspection points? they did the same thing to us and we need ours moved too. Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 97Jan 31, 2016 12:26 am Hi guys, the build is in the final stages now!!!! We are booked in for PCI on the 11th of Feb with keys on the 25th!!! That gives me 2 weeks to get the aggregate, tiling, lighting and carpets done before we move on the 15th of March!!! Pretty exciting but also nerve wracking at the same time We have been looking at blinds today (even though I can't afford anything until work come through with a bonus we are getting but could be anywhere between March and June ) We got a quote through ABC in Rockingham to have Vertisheers in the bedrooms, Panels in the sliding doors, matching rollers for the skinny lounge windows and highlight in the theatre, 50mm venetian in the bathroom and timber shutter for the ensuite. I really like the vertisheers...... in fact I like all my choices but I was wondering who everyone went through for their curtains??? I have read some funny stuff about Kresta/ABC/Vista where they offer huge 50% discounts but all they do is over inflate the price so the discounts come back to normal. The vertisheers for those who haven't heard of them look like this..... although they are a lot more elegant in real life! http://www.abcblinds.com.au/Products/Indoor-Blinds/Item/Vertisheer-Blinds I heard a lot of people use Luxaflex in Mandurah but is this cause they are well priced or just top of the line (i.e. they have more $$$ than me for blinds! Lol!) And they have a version of these vertisheers as well but I have no idea how dear they are.... http://www.luxaflex.com.au/AdminCenter/Library.Files/Media/Corporate%20Library/Products%202015/LUX_Luminette_Brochure_2015-LR.pdf Anyway, I'll await some suggestions and leave you with some pictures of where I am at Love my robe doors! Love the shiny wardrobe doors - we chose half mirror, half white, but i fear they are a matt white, yours look great! Those floor tiles will look great!
