Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 26, 2015 8:49 pm Hi all, I'm a newbie to this forum and the roof has just gone on our very first build. When I saw the new colorbond basalt, I was stoked as it was the exact neutral grey I was after for the roof. It's just gone on and in most light it looks silver?! It's shocked me a bit as the roof colour was the one pick I felt really confident about and it's really thrown me off a bit! The front will be rendered in evening haze and I'm hoping it will go nicely with the roof, I was positive before but now not so much! The garage and front door will be surfmist as will the fascias, do you think these colours will all tie in together ok? Just looking for reassurance I guess! Re: Exterior: Basalt roof evening haze render 2May 26, 2015 10:53 pm We are looking to have Basalt roof as well as it looks like the perfect neutral grey. Do you have a picture of your roof? I think Surfmist will go well with Basalt. Did a Google search and think evening haze rendering looks good with Surfmist, it should work out fine. 2015 5 June:Land settled 21 Oct: Planning consent granted 2016 28 Jan: Development approval issued 25 Feb: Foundation prep begins Re: Exterior: Basalt roof evening haze render 4May 31, 2015 6:57 pm We're also going basalt roof. We so far have our gutters only and they don't seem to throw any silver. Now I'm nervous about our roof also! In some lights the evening haze has a slightly greenish look about it. Sorry I can't help with the basalt! http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/16%20Shed%20without%20roller%20doors_zpsobmwvj6g.jpg Re: Exterior: Basalt roof evening haze render 6Jun 05, 2015 9:56 am Thank you treeseachanger the shed looks great! I don't mind the evening haze throwing green I'm just hoping its more of a 'sandy' colour than grey? If that makes sense? We were after a coastal look with neutral colours. MJ Hillview our gutters don't throw any silver either! When I looked at the roof I said 'Its meant to look like the gutters!' It's mainly in overcast weather it really looks silver/whitish. I just drove past and it looks a nice soft grey. I think also over a larger area it makes the colour seem lighter than what a sample shows? I'm learning to love it and I'm sure you will love yours too! Re: Exterior: Basalt roof evening haze render 7Jun 05, 2015 10:06 am Hi sandyfeet. You couldn't be more correct. Our roof is now partly done and should be finished today. I still haven't seen any silver in it and it's quite dark actually. But I LOVE it.
