We're painting now, so our verticals all had to come down which is a bit of a pain in itself. I now know why people who have painted their new house have all said to me "you will never leave painting out of the building contract again" because it's such a nightmare when you have everything in, floor coverings, window coverings, bench tops etc. But that's owner life Re: Our first home with Summit - Lighting pics!! 923Dec 05, 2015 12:18 pm Thanks Buildingbythesea, DC and Kron. We chose the matt finish for the tracks, it looks lovely, very nice and subtle. We have matt finish throughout the whole house, I love it! Hahaha Kron, I will stop and move on to the next bits now Our building journey viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77582 Re: Our first home with Summit - Lighting pics!! 924Dec 05, 2015 12:34 pm There has been so much progress I can't keep up!! Let me talk about our lighting now since I haven't updated about it. Finally we had our lights installed on Monday after spending the first night with no lights . The electrician did a good job, we are impressed. We were worried about how we were going to get the symmetry in the living/dining and the kitchen right but they worked it out perfectly for us. We both don't like pendants on the island bench and wanted downlights but it would have been too much to put 3 over it and we were not sure how we were going to get it right. He suggested 2 downlights over the bench and 3 on the back row and it worked out perfectly, how did we not think about that in the first place . He was like don't stress, trust me I have done this so many times, it will be fine, and it sure is! It's a good thing we have separate switches so they won't be on at the same time . They are very professional and they cleaned up after themselves too. I would highly recommend them. They supplied and installed all the downlights throughout the whole house. We only supplied the alfresco fan and the outside sensor lights and they installed them for us. Here is the link to their website if anyone is interested. http://www.elegantlighting.com.au We went with warm white and I love it. We were both convinced all along that we would go with cool white but changed our minds when we met him and he explained that cool white is more for commercial purposes not residential but you can use it if you want anyway. He showed us both and we found the cool white to be too bright. Warm white is just perfect! We both thought it will be too yellowy (is there such a word? - lol) after reading reviews etc but I think it's perfect. I love the white finish too . We initially wanted the chrome finish but then changed our minds once we saw the round air con vents. White blends in perfectly with them and the ceilings . Our building journey viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77582 Our first home with Summit - Lighting pics!! 936Dec 08, 2015 12:15 am It’s been a week since we moved in but it already feels like we have been here for longer . I am very proud of Mr OM, he has made lots of progress this weekend, well done . Now the countdown to the 6 chairs is over. Lounge and theatre couch done as well. What to countdown to next???
It took a long time for us to find what we really wanted. Which furniture shop did we not visit in Perth? We went to a lot of them but we couldn’t find what we wanted, it’s like we knew what we wanted but couldn’t find it . I didn’t think it would be that hard to shop for furniture but it actually was!! We finally came across Nick Scali in Osborne Park and that was it . We had seen this shop in Melbourne and loved their furniture but it wasn’t available in Perth then so I was very happy to see that they are now in Perth. We found the theatre couch first and then went back again and decided on the lounge couch. We initially wanted the same style for the lounge in leather but they didn’t have it in leather. The consultant suggested we could take it in fabric to break the leather in the house and that was actually a very good idea, I love the fabric! It was on sale too so we were very happy and ordered it. The consultant we dealt with was very lovely. We told her the house wasn’t ready and we wanted them to keep the couches for us until we move in and she said that will be fine even though they normally keep it in storage for only 4 weeks she would extend it for us . Same with the dining table, we finally came across a table we wanted in Fusions, also in Osborne Park. We knew we wanted a walnut table but it was a huge mission to find it too! We bought it and they kept it for us in storage till the house was ready too so that was good. We bought the table with no chairs as we didn’t like the chairs they had so it was yet another mission to find the chairs. Then we came across West Elm and we found the exact chairs we were looking for party and happy dance. That was our furniture shopping adventure!! Gosh, that’s a long story there, you talk too much OM, just post the pictures hahaha . Here are some pics. I won’t say much anymore, let the pics do the talking, all I can say is I love them all. Living room. We still need to get a tv and wall mount it. Still trying to decide whether to put a rug or not, what do you think? Rug or no rug?
