Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2015 10:19 pm I have been reading through some threads on this forum for some time and I have finally decided to start my own thread. This forum is a great source of ideas and information and it got me very well prepared for the pre start meeting . We went through the process of trying to buy an established house but we could not find what we wanted and we decided to build our own. We registered on the Stockland website for the Calleya release in August 2014 but we could not get a block for that release and we tried again for the next release and managed to get a 450m2 block in September 2014 . Titles were scheduled for March 2015. We had already visited various display homes by then and we knew exactly what we wanted. We compared a few builders and made the decision to go with Summit homes. We signed the PPA in November 2014 and signed the contracts in March 2015. We are very happy with how things have progressed so far and we are also very happy with the customer service provided by the staff at Summit. Hopefully it will be the same throughout the build.

Just waiting for our CA to give me a call and let me know when the siteworks will start. The waiting kills me though!! She did say that she will give me a call early this week for an update so i will be waiting patiently for her call......... Re: Our first home build in Calleya with Summit homes 3May 25, 2015 10:46 pm I feel your pain! We are a year in and due to get our slab this week (fingers crossed!) I've been told 4-6 weeks after Settlement you can expect slab. It looks like that is pretty standard after reading most of these threads. It's so exciting, but it's also so frustrating when you are waiting for something to happen lol My topic thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76249&start=20#p1316378 Re: Our first home build in Calleya with Summit homes 4May 25, 2015 10:51 pm Gypsyhabitat I feel your pain! I also decided to build after looking at established and nothing really stood out. I'm building in Calleya also with summit homes. I am yet to put up a blog but will eventually. But I am building the Chateau on a corner 450m block I'm a little ahead of you. My brickwork was just completed. So far once I finally got shire approval everything has been pretty smooth. Slab went down around 3 weeks after building permit. Then brickwork completed a month after slab. Oh, I have seen your house then when we do our rounds to check out the progress in the estate and of course I watch the summit houses lol. Your brickwork really progressed very quickly. How long did they wait for the slab to dry before starting brickwork? If the eaves are fixed first, the eaves line is about 250 mm below the top plate of wall frame. If the cladding ie hebel stops just under the eave line, then that means… 2 42195 I second taking your plans elsewhere. They're yours (unless you ended up in one of those cheaper arrangements where you don't own the rights and the build will be tendered… 2 24228 Thanks so much! The cladding is Nuline plus by BGC. I added this in as the options at Summit didn't have a classic weatherboard look. Glad I did, it looks really nice! 28 121078 |
