Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2015 3:54 pm Hi I am coming to the end of my build of a queenslander with wrap around verandas and I need to make a decision on paint. I was wanting to go with surfmist colour ballastrades and have a surfmist roof and was wondering if anyone can suggest a nice grey for the weatherboard? My painter is suggesting Windspray or Dune. I like the Hampton look. Would love to see photos if anyone has done anything like this? Thanks! Re: Choosing the right Grey for the exterior to go with Surf 2May 29, 2015 11:55 pm Others have successfully used Dulux Milton moon, silkwort or tranquil retreat. I think if you google you will find some of these exteriors. Also consider the direction your house faces and how deep the verandahs are. This makes a difference to how light or dark the colour will appear in reality. For instance, a north facing house in summer will need a darker shade as the sun "bleaches" the colour out. Make sample pots your friend and paint onto large card, prop them up and look at them at different times of day and in different positions, then you will get it right. I think windspray is too blue based, and in certain light dune can appear a light mocha grey. . .
