Hi guys,
Just wanted some honest feedback on the bricks mentioned: Midland/Austral vs Brikmakers. I lumped Midland/Austral together as builders such as Celebration Homes offer either (or a mix I think). Brikmakers so far seems to be a BGC group offering and other cheaper builders e.g. Blueprint homes.
I've heard conflicting things - builders such as Celebration and REdink sell on the basis of the better quality midland bricks for example. One mentioned insulation qualities and being less porous was a traid of midland bricks which say go through 4-6 days in the kiln supposedly versus the one or two days of Brikmakers (from what I remember). Speaking to a custom home builder he reckoned to ignore the arguments about bricks and that they would all pretty much conform to standards and energy ratings or they legally would be in trouble.
What is everyones opinions? Looking for some well researched opinions or evidence, or if anyone has spoken to brick layers and other independent sources and could share what they heard about the various bricks?
Obviously if it doesnt make a huge difference, I'm going for an investment property and the likes of say Smart Homes could be around $206k as opposed to $220k with more expensive builders like celebration and redink that have midland bricks as a point of differentiation.
SO many smoke and mirrors out there ... same as BGC's in-house glass vs jason glass and other independents, everyone blows their own horns! SO would love to hear your unbias opinions
