What are all these people paying for? We just got the modem from Telstra and our builder to put a data and phone point in the linen press. The data is terminated into the linen. Done! What are these 'hubs'? Is ours different because we have fibre to the node so it's installed outside? Your provider will still come and install your NBN at no charge once the wiring is there...
Correct me if I am wrong but yes, FTTN uses the old copper wire system into your house, which Telstra will take care of.
If you have FTTH (fibre to the home) then it uses a different line which the builder (Or NBNCo at builders cost) will typically need to trench and conduit from the street supply to the house.
The HUB's some of us are talking about are used for structured cabling to distribute a LAN throughout the house. It could also just be the housing for the NBN termination device, uninterruptible power supply, and modem, which is required for FTTH.
Yeah that's what I thought, I still thought though your supplier will arrange FTTH. And you could arrange your own housing fairly simply but I guess it's easier to get the builder to do it.
