Those labels on the draw is a good idea. I need to do that too, then maybe DH might run out of excuses for putting clothes away

Huh, so apparently I fell off the face of the earth once we moved in. Who would have thought that handover, moving in to a new house and giving birth within two weeks would make you REALLY busy!

I will eventually get around to putting some current photos up, but for now I need help!

We had concrete poured in October - driveway and alfresco.

At Christmas my father noticed that a corner of the alfresco had lifted up off the ground. The concrete is extremely cracked, all over. Some cracks bigger than others.

We had a different concretor out over the weekend who stated that he thought the mesh was on the ground and that there was too much room between the expansion joints. He didn't want to put any of that in writing though, as Adelaide is too small and he didn't want any backlash from the original concretor. He recommended we get a building consultant/inspector out to have a look and give us a report.

So, does anyone have a recommendation for a building inspector specialising in paving concrete who could write a report for us? We are in north east Adelaide.
Yes either one of those things can make you EXTREMELY busy on their own - I know!!

I'm not much help other than our experience that I'm in the north east and our driveway hasn't cracked, I think they did enough expansion joints. There should be a standard written somewhere online, how far apart were they?
The expansion joints were about 5m by 5m apart. I haven't found the information online for the standard, but the second concreting guy said they should be no more than 3m by 3m.

It is so disappointing. There are three other concrete driveways in our street - one poured eight years ago, two poured about 18 months ago. None of them have cracked!

General Discussion

Your house should come in "as new" condition. It should be clean, and without stains
