Who fudging kn 323Jun 04, 2016 12:40 am Yep, Heatherkam, I definitely think being pregnant is making me much more anxious now. I know we have a limited amount of time after handover to get things done before baby arrives. If I could know roughly when they are expecting handover to be, I could make sure that the flooring will be available straight away etc. We are trying to pack now, but not knowing how much longer it will be makes it hard. If handover is the end of the month, then we could pack a lot of things that we usually use and make do for the next few weeks, but not if it is two months away! I just hate not knowing things. I like to have a plan and some idea of what is happening in the immediate future! I am definitely a type A personality (I'm a lawyer, what can I say, we like to control things). And even though I said when I signed up with Fairmont that I knew they were going to be slow and I was okay with that as they were cheap and good quality... now when I look at builds that started a month to a few months after mine and they are finished... it is hard. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - How long left? Who fudging kn 324Jun 05, 2016 6:05 pm We just got home after visiting the block to talk about fencing and retaining walls with a tradie to get our first quote. I have a feeling that I am going to have a heart attack when we get the quote! One of the reasons we bought the old house was because it was on a reasonably 'flat' block - 0.5m fall over 40m. The cut and fill means that the block is not so flat. We knew we would have to put a retaining wall along the back fence (after the house was knocked down we looked over the fence for the first time and realised that the soil level was about 500mm higher on our neighbours side than ours). When we got there today we had a look at the side neighbours and realised we would need a retaining wall along that side too. Then when we were just about to leave, the guy noticed that the soil level on the other side had risen about 100mm next to the fence and we would have to put a retaining wall down there too. Gah. When we did the home loan we didn't think we would need any retaining walls so there is no provision for it in the mortgage. We do have some money for 'landscaping' which may have to solely go towards the fence and retaining wall and slowly do the rest as we go. Boo. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - How long left? Who fudging kn 325Jun 05, 2016 6:16 pm That's poo Bobbin! I hate retaining too. Our cut meant that we needed to retain both sides of fencing plus a 25m one through the middle of our yard! Bleh! Lucky hubby will be doing the big one, but they aren't cheap that's for sure!! Building a custom Sterling home in Adelaide. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - How long left? Who fudging kn 326Jun 06, 2016 1:20 pm Got hold of the SS today. Plumbing fitout should be happening very soon, and stormwater as well, both before painting. He has said with winter hitting the painters have been getting sick, one is injured etc and the jobs are building up so there has been a bit of a delay on painting. He thinks handover will be mid July. At least we know roughly when we are looking at! Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Tracking for mid July handove 329Jun 07, 2016 12:21 am Yeah retaining is just annoying and expensive. Our RW contractor said that nobody wakes up in the morning saying 'I want retaining'! ..It's something you grudgingly have to do. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Tracking for mid July handove 330Jun 07, 2016 12:09 pm Man1 Yeah retaining is just annoying and expensive. Our RW contractor said that nobody wakes up in the morning saying 'I want retaining'! ..It's something you grudgingly have to do. Haha, yep. I wonder how many grumpy customers they get! Plumber was there this morning starting the fitout, yay! He didn't have our ensuite bath there though. I am hanging out to see that installed. Our entire house was designed around that bath, literally. I don't think I have put our flooring choices up yet either? Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Tracking for mid July handove 332Jun 14, 2016 4:15 pm At kindy pick up this afternoon there was a ute reverse parked in our front yard, with a guy sitting in it waiting. I am pretty sure he was just waiting to pick up his kid from school. That rubbed me the wrong way - it is our property, why would you park on our front yard? Yes, there is clearly no one living there yet, but that doesn't make it ok to trespass! Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Tracking for mid July handove 333Jun 14, 2016 11:54 pm Hmm yes people seem to think that houses under construction aren't owned by anyone! Reminds me of when I turned up to our build one day and a guy was reversing up and about to throw some rubbish in the skip bin... He changed his mind when he saw me! Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Tracking for mid July handove 334Jun 15, 2016 6:58 am Aren't people rude. We have been going through the same thing with people parking sometimes all weekend, in our drive way and all over the front of the block when they have their own yards and driveways free. Even after leaving notes on cars and knocking on doors and asking nicely it continues. I love your flooring choices! Handover is on the horizon! C U S T O M. C O R A L. Bathrooms also look great! In relation to your tap placement, when I looked at it quick I kinda went 'hmm it's a bit off centre' when when I looked again and realised the outlet was centred my eyes readjusted and it's fine I think. My plumber also explained they centre the outlet and then have the mixer off centre. Did you just want the mixer closer to the outlet? C U S T O M. C O R A L. I think it would frustrate me at the start, as I am right handed, but you will not even notice it after a week I would say. viewtopic.php?t=82566 Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Plumbing fitout 339Jun 16, 2016 5:52 pm I am obsessive about things being symmetrical. I hate how far to the left the tap is as it makes it look not centred - like you said Mrs JM. I know that they probably would put the outlet centred and the tap slightly offset. It didn't occur to me that it would be so far apart as the photo on the Caroma website had hte tap and outlet on a backing plate so it doesn't look so offcentred! Fairmont don't do mockups of tap placement etc and I have been unhappy with where they put the taps for the ensuite shower, the tap for the ensuite basin and the shower and tap for the main bathroom! grrr. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Plumbing fitout 340Jun 19, 2016 5:23 pm hello - just remembered to pop onto forum and check out where everyone is at!! And look at you!!
