Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Slab!!!!!!! 165Jan 25, 2016 3:55 pm Oh my goodness! Congratulations!!! That's such wonderful news! How are you feeling??? Have you been sick? I got mega cranky at our builder's while pregnant So exciting to see your frames going up, after all this time. Is your husband feeling better about the size? Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Frame started 166Jan 25, 2016 9:17 pm I have been exhausted! I had MS for about two weeks, thats it. Last time I had it from 4-9 weeks but only when I was hungry. I ate and it went away. I'm very lucky. Hubby thinks it is looking better. He knew when he said it looked small that it was just the slab playing tricks on him. I have reminded him that this house is over 3 times as big as our old place! Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Frame started 168Feb 03, 2016 11:41 pm Frame was finished yesterday. I was picking my daughter up from kindy (next door to the build) and the tradies were just packing up. They told me the plumbers would be on site on Tuesday and possibly the fascia etc would be put up then too. No sight of any work on site over the last two days though. Holy moly, I was not expecting how tall our house would be. We tower over the next door neighbour! We are directly at the end of the street when cars turn into the street. With the old house, sometimes people wouldn't even realise there was a house there as we had a narrow frontage and big trees out the front, but now there is absolutely no missing it. It even makes our tree look small This photo shows the difference between us and our neighbour's house: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the frontage of our house: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Frame started 169Feb 03, 2016 11:42 pm And I am really pleased about the size of all the rooms, they feel just right Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Frame finished 171Feb 04, 2016 5:52 am Went walking the other night and passed the end of your street - witnessed your home coming to life!! Looking good. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Frame finished 172Feb 04, 2016 6:47 am Good progress with the frame! We were surprised about size of ours also... What does everyone think about using their big roof spaces to store stuff? I know technically it probably says somewhere that you shouldn't. There seems to be timber pieces going everywhere on ours which makes it harder to put things up there, is this the modern way to do it or something. Storage space is under estimated so the roof is a great spot. I wouldn't plan anything until the framers are finished and even then the electricans, plumbing and air conditioning guys could still come along and use an area for their wires etc Take measurements and photos and plan if possible once you move in! Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Frame finished 174Feb 04, 2016 3:36 pm Okay, I have a kitchen lighting dilemma! We will have three pendant lights over the kitchen bench. The kitchen is white 2pac shaker style doors, glass doors either side of the range good, white stone and white subway tile splashback. The walls are a soft grey with white trim, and floors are coffee bamboo. Similar colour scheme and style to this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I fell in love with these lights, but they have now been discontinued and are unavailable to buy anywhere: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However, they are still available to buy in the 'copper' colour, which looks closer to black: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I haven't found any other pendants I like and I have spent a LOT of time looking. The black version will be discontinued soon too. I am just unsure whether black will be a bit jarring, given the White on white of the kitchen, soft grey of the walls? What do you think? Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Kitchen pendant help! 175Feb 04, 2016 8:21 pm Ive a white kitchen and also contemplated what color pendant lights to have. In the end we chose black as we felt while would blend in too much. I love the black ones pictured - good luck choosing 😊 Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Kitchen pendant help! 176Feb 04, 2016 9:51 pm It could work with that style of light, I'm very partial to the glass pendants but I get with glass doors in your overheads you have glass covered, tricky, it seems with a few of these shaker style kitchens what tends to work is black iron with frosted glass not sure if you have considered that at all... So hard I have been looking too ands it's almost too much choice!! Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Kitchen pendant help! 177Feb 11, 2016 8:06 pm I still don't know what to do about the lights. Hubby said he preferred the habitat pendants, and I was convinced to go with those, but then I decided that I really love the ivy pendants, and lighting isn't a permanent decision - it will be quite easy to change if I end up not liking how it looks so I have gone back to wanting ivy! Windows and sliding doors are in now, plumbing done, termite treatment guy was there yesterday (I thought that would have been done before the slab?) and the roofing guys seem to be coming and laying one beam per day. I visit the site at 9am and 3pm every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as my daughter attends the kindy next door. I haven't seen the roofing guys there once! I think they must just be dropping by and working for half an hour and then leave... Oh, and plumbing for tap outlets etc... Is it possible that the final placement of the taps will be slightly different to where the pipes are coming out of the walls at present? Because the two heads of our ensuite dual shower won't line up otherwise.. Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Kitchen pendant help! 178Feb 11, 2016 8:09 pm Check with ss about plumbing placement, useful to send pic. They put our tap plumbing placement in the wrong place. From memory they do two lots of termite treatmwnt, one before and after? Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Kitchen pendant help! 179Feb 11, 2016 8:32 pm hmm regarding the lights: What colour cabinet handles are you having? Regular stainless steel sink or a fancy black one some people are doing? What colour dining table? And style/colour bar stools? If any of those are dark then the dark lights wouldn't be out of place? What about window frames or window curtain/blind colour? What do you think about glass ball style pendants? Either way I love those pendants you posted above. I'm sure they'd look terrific Ps - I love that kitchen photo. Your house will be gorgeous Re: Fairmont Homes CustomKDR - Kitchen pendant help! 180Feb 11, 2016 9:41 pm Nice lights! Black will look fabbo to me! Break up all the white and give it some life yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5324 Your house should come in "as new" condition.
