Should be a very busy week for them. Still lots of jobs half done. Hope your place is busy too and PCI goes smoothly. Your pool will be back to normal soon and you'll be swimming in it before you know it Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - PCI date 27/11/15 225Nov 22, 2015 5:12 pm Okay folks, after some advice. We are spending a large amount of money on a modern home. At prestart we asked for conduit so we could install ceiling fans after handover. We were told they couldn't do it but could supply and install the ceiling fans for us. We were never shown what the fans looked like. Naively, I thought they would be modern and in keeping with the house. This is what has been installed in 4 of the bedrooms at the cost of $1128. I know we will change them out at some point but because the build has dragged on, they will be way down the list of things to do. Would you be happy with them? Is it just a case of we signed off on it so it's just hard luck? Or would you say they weren't in keeping with the style of their homes? Any advice appreciated. Haven't seen anything that ugly for years. Looked on the Beacon Lighting site and they have nothing that looks so bad. As for $1128 for 4 fans - they're pulling your leg - that's more than retail! Paying so much and getting fans from decades ago isnt what you expect to see. We can relate as the sliding door we have came from the same era. Not sure where they procure these items from. Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 230Nov 22, 2015 8:10 pm I had better fans in my public primary school back in the 80's!!! Also is that price for the fan and install? I asked at prestart for a fan in the main bedroom but they said it couldn't be done cause it was under the slab? I have conduits run for the other bedrooms and will be getting them put in after handover. Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 231Nov 22, 2015 10:01 pm They look similar to a fan I saw on Bunnings website, I think they were about $30! I would be questioning a break down in the cost. We wanted ceiling fans in our current build and the builder is happy for us to supply. There is mention of this happening in our electrical variation costs but judging by everything else we added in on our electric plan and the eventual overall cost I doubt we were charged much extra - I can't where they have spent your $1128. Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 232Nov 23, 2015 1:21 am Thanks everyone. Yep! Stupid us thought we be getting a quality product to match the house. They wouldn't let us supply them or just put conduit in. We thought we were saving ourselves a bit of bother. Have sent an email questioning it. Probably won't do any good. I could insist that they supply all white fans as it says in the prestart costs. Wish me luck lol Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 233Nov 23, 2015 9:20 am I guess you can ask but if it is their standard fan they will come back with you should have asked for a photo etc to see what you were getting. When we were doing ceiling fans I asked to see the standard - I remember the sales person being surprised actually, so I'm guessing many people don't ask. When we saw it we were like 'what the?', so we then had the chance to go and choose a different one for about an extra $45 a fan. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 234Nov 23, 2015 9:23 am Yeah, that's what I'm thinking they'll come back with shellby. When you're spending over $350k you'd think you'd get something a bit better than that without having to ask. I'd easily have paid the extra. Gee, bit condescending there. It wasn't all we could afford. We weren't given a choice. And I will be looking at sales to see if I can replace them sooner rather than later thank you very much Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 236Nov 23, 2015 9:32 am Aussie141414 I had better fans in my public primary school back in the 80's!!! I have conduits run for the other bedrooms and will be getting them put in after handover. So you got conduit in but they flat out said no to me. At least I can use that as a point in my argument. Just another inconsistency in prestart. Seems it depends who you get. Re: Ben Trager Secret Harbour - Advice appreciated 237Nov 23, 2015 12:16 pm I pretty sure BT Homes use a 1C concrete slab over a light weight truss system So you wouldn't need conduit cast insitu into the monolithic slab, if I am not mistaken? Do you know what suspended slab system you got The upper walls are just timber stud framing no big deal for retrofitting cabling/conduit...
