Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Upgrades for Porter Davis Rochford 40 3May 15, 2015 1:55 pm The upgrade price from cat1 to cat3 carpet was an additional $6347. Our cat2 brick upgrade price was $1654. These prices are from Oct 2014 when our contract was signed. We're building the Rochford 40M. Hope that helps. Re: Upgrades for Porter Davis Rochford 40 5May 16, 2015 2:51 pm Yes, some of the upgrade prices are a tad over the top, but we wanted to be able to move in without worry of having to do the floors (2 young children) and also factor the cost in to the mortgage, and therefore going with PD was the best option. Re: Upgrades for Porter Davis Rochford 40 6May 16, 2015 5:57 pm I'm going to chase up these upgrade costs with PD, as I've found evidence of other people on the forum getting credited back some of the cost of the cat1 carpets/flooring when paying for upgrades as can be seen below. My contract doesn't show any credit back against the upgrades, so I need to find out if these are correct prices or not; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Based on the 20Sq house in the example and ours being a 40Sq, I reckon I should be due for an approx $7600 credit back. Let's see what my BC has to say about why I didn't get it. Re: Upgrades for Porter Davis Rochford 40 7May 18, 2015 10:56 am I managed to completely miss the credit back in my contract document due to looking at the wrong section. Thanks to my BC for setting me straight and showing me where to find the entries. We upgraded our carpet to cat3 at an additional cost of $6347 We upgraded the laminate to Provincial at an additional cost of $9235 We received a credit back of $8413 which included credit back for carpet, laminate and shower rail upgrades. I can't believe a shower rail would have credited back more than a couple of hundred dollars, so approximate about $8213 credit back for the flooring. Therefore we spent an extra $15582 in upgrading the carpet and laminate, but got credited back $8213 for the cat1 items, so the total additional cost of the upgrades for the whole house was $7369. Percentage wise it looks to be just under 50% credited back, so I'm assuming that if you just upgrade the carpet to cat3 for $6347, then you can assume that you're going to get approx $3173 credited back for the cat1 item.
