Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 06, 2015 11:43 am Hi all, I'll be moving into my new house soon. But when I contact Telstra about the Velocity connection, they checked and advised me that although they could confirm that my address is in the fibre optic area, they just couldn't add my address in because there is no cable from the street to my house. Isn't that Telstra would need to do that by themselves? They told me to call the Developer Hotline, which no one would pick up my call and I could only leave a message. For those who are building in the smart community, could you please advise on how to proceed? Re: Anyone building in telstra smart community? 2May 06, 2015 5:52 pm Your builder should have placed a conduit from the front of your house to the street for Telstra to then come along later and install the fibre-optic lead-in. Telstra use sub-contractors to do the lead-in installation when you initiate your connection. Suggested approach is to sign-up for Telstra bigpond and then get them to organise the connection to the street. ( prepare for pain as you get bounced between call centres and Telstra staff that don't know how to connect people in Telstra Velocity estates ) From memory it took over 2 months to get my place connected up, however I had issues with the street connection pits being full of mud.
