Looking for a screen like below, but can't find anything of the shelf with the right measurements (2100x1200). So will end up paying more for custom cut one. Our other living area and study are at the front which is far enough away to allow for quiet. Most trades have been good, but it pays to be very specific about how you expect it to done as they will generally have there own ideas. Standouts I would say have been plasters, flooring, tilers and brickie. But everyone can have a different experience. Painters have been a let down in my case and will probably require the most rectification's. They have shown little care in there work. We don't have a date yet but will expect a private inspection mid/late May and hopefully in early June. This would be a total time since site start of 7 months. Building MainVue Ivory 436 KDR Building MainVue Ivory 436 82May 01, 2016 12:16 pm You sound like you had a good idea of what works right from the start. We are first time builders....some of the great ideas you had just didn't cross our minds. After Melb Water rejected our planning application for the Amalfi, they gave us conditions that forced us to change the whole orientation of the next house plans. Those restrictions, along with the fact that our neighbours have a brick garage on our boundary at the rear of the block have thrown some challenges at us...one of them being lack of light on the bedroom side of the house. The worst effected is the bathroom. It really needed a bigger window given that there is a tall brick wall only 1.18m away from it (lol not for the view though! Thank goodness for vertical gardens) 7 months for your build is probably longer than you were expecting but it's worth it. It looks so good. Keep posting updates...I'm really interested!! viewtopic.php?t=81336 Building with MainVue...Modified Ivory 436...our journey Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 83May 01, 2016 2:22 pm It can be difficult when your plans are limited by your block size. There are still ideas that I wanted to do but could not explore them because I had not considered them earlier in the process. Still lots to decide on outside Here are some more photos, really like the wide entrance and long hallway. These photos just make me so excited about our own house. Your colours look great!! Is the space next to your microwave space in the pantry for your dishwasher? Great idea to put some drawers in there...wish I'd thought of that. We also went for glass splashback with full height sides. Really happy with that decision now I've seen yours. Agree the long hallway looks awesome, so do your super sized sliders. We had to sacrifice about 30cm off our entry width because the standard house was too wide for the permit conditions but yours looks fantastic. I can live with our less than grand entry...it kind of suits the neighborhood anyway... Did you post a floor plan, I can't seem to find one on your thread. viewtopic.php?t=81336 Building with MainVue...Modified Ivory 436...our journey Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 86May 01, 2016 5:27 pm lish87 UTF Artesan Mist It Can be seen on display at PD link below. http://www.porterdavis.com.au/our-house ... y/shanghai Although when we chose it we hadn't seen it besides at Cosham on a sample board. We just liked the texture of the Artesan and wanted something dark that was too much of a upgrade. It was a Cat 2b during our selection. We deleted the dishwasher and added provision for oven. The idea was we would always store our dinnerware in the kitchen and carrying back and forth would be inconvenient. The other layout of drawers must have been standard for the choice for butler fit out option KIV3 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But there are few things would change. Have sink located over one door, instead of cantered over two doors. As this gives you extra storage that is not located under sink. Put a PowerPoint on the right side of the bench. You cannot cut the glass to future install a PowerPoint as it needs to be cut before it is heat treated. Upgrade to innotech soft close and request deeper drawers. Max depth on ours are 43cm Building MainVue Ivory 436 88May 01, 2016 11:40 pm Yeah, I'm the same, there are a few of things that we would do differently in hindsight but overall I think it will be a lovely home. It would be a shame to spend too much time focusing on what we should have done .....eg. we didn't upgrade the bench thickness in the pantry or powder room and I regret that now but I'm sure after a couple of days in the house I won't think about it too much (hopefully!). We did put the extra power point in the butlers though. What's wrong with the soft touch system? Lucky we've got the big top shelf in the in the butlers isn't it...sounds like that's where the big pots will have to go! At this point we think they may have made a mistake with the sink in the butlers. The temp benchtop has a hole cut in it the size of a double sink and the cupboards below seem to indicate that as well. We asked for a single, undermount sink to match the double in the kitchen (i.e. same range) Will wait and see what happens with that. viewtopic.php?t=81336 Building with MainVue...Modified Ivory 436...our journey Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 91May 29, 2016 6:53 pm Not in, NHP in Friday. I hope not for your sake....Telstra has been having some problems, especially yesterday...maybe it's them? How's everything else going? We moved in on Monday, appliances on Tuesday and heating on Wednesday. Lots of mud because of the weather, hopefully finalise the driveway this weekend. Lots of stuff to be done.
