Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 41Dec 20, 2015 12:51 pm Hi Tudu, Keep the photos coming please! Our Ivory 436 is a bit different to yours due to changes by both of us but your photos are giving me a really great insight into how's ours will look. Planing permit finally approved by both Melbourne water (due to SBO flood rating) and also council now. Christmas break is a pain for us. We were hoping to have contact signing this side of Christmas but it's booked in for the 7th now. At least things are moving forward now...... Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 42Dec 20, 2015 6:17 pm That's good news about the permit. I have added some more framing photos to earlier post. Do you have a copy of you floor plan to post? I am not very tech savvy and am still trying how to insert photos here!!!! Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 48Dec 22, 2015 10:20 am Looks great. What was the reason for garage flip, was it to suit existing crossover? Building MainVue Ivory 436 KDR Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 49Dec 22, 2015 12:40 pm Yes, it was because of the crossover. Also as a condition of our planning permit being approved by Melbourne water, we have to have at least 3m between the house and fence on the eastern boundary. It made sense to have the living areas there so we can build a nice side alfresco. The storm water system in this very established area is not so good but it's never had a massive flood, so I don't know why they are being so harsh. Everyone in our area is affected by the flood overlay. Some people buy properties and end up reselling because they're are so many rules. We have one bricklayer doing the whole job by himself. Doesn't even use a labourer to mix or carry bricks. Been at it since just before New Years. Lock up carpenters have started straightening walls, installing bath frames and temp doors. Electricians and insulation getting done late next week, so should see us ready for plaster maybe the week after. Brick layer off on another job, will hopefully be back next week. Starting to look like a home at least from the outside. Bricklayer should be finishing your job not starting another one, I wouldn't be too happy about that. Great to see the photos, gives me a good insight to how ours will look, except in reverse. We had to narrow our entry corridor and shift the garage in a bit, so that we could get the 3m minimum between the house and the fence. Our garage will start just much closer to the edge of the free standing pillar. I can figure out how that will look from your 2nd photo, so thanks. Your bricks look really good and I love the timber window, I'm glad we chose timber too. What do you plan to do with your porch? Re: Building MainVue Ivory 436 54Jan 22, 2016 2:29 pm Our garage door shifted over as we added 86cm to garage, but the standard plans have the door near the pillar. Hoping to do something like below. Step at the front and lipped on the side to exposed aggregate. Hopefully the extended time taken means that the build quality is high. I'm part nervous, part excited Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
