Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 30, 2015 9:06 pm Hi everyone Im new to this so please excuse any errors. We are looking to purchase and build a home and land package in Port Macquarie very soon. Can anyone give me the good and the bad builders up there? Any tips are helpful at this point. Thankyou Re: Best home and land builders port macquarie 2Jun 24, 2015 10:31 am Hi Kelly, What sort of progression have you had since you last posted? My partner and i have bought 2.5 acres in Kempsey (about 30 mins north of Port Macquarie) and have chosen a Port Macquarie local builder (Northpoint Homes - check out his website) to build our first home. You're most welcome to check out our build thread Follow our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77542 Re: Best home and land builders port macquarie 3Oct 05, 2015 8:22 pm Hello We haven't had much luck so far we are trying to find a house and land "package" where it is a one off deposit and then payment upon getting the keys. We cant affod to do land and house seperately as we are paying very high rent in Sydney and cant be paying repayments on the land whilst paying rent. Im trying to find a building company that will do this. Re: Best home and land builders port macquarie 4Nov 21, 2015 4:59 pm We have just started our build with Brandon Calder in Port Macquarie. He is the best builder in Port Re: Best home and land builders port macquarie 5Nov 21, 2015 8:41 pm Oooooh, i love Brandon Calder homes. Very familiar with them Follow our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77542 Re: Best home and land builders port macquarie 6Nov 23, 2015 9:39 am Do look into stamp duty though with house and land packages - If you buy land and then house you only pay stamp duty on the land price - whereas if you buy a package you pay stamp duty on the whole price. The difference for us was $1600 for buying land - or for the whole price $11,000 - then minus the $5,00 grant - so we got a cheque for $3,400 instead of paying $6,000. Is there anyway to adjust your budget to be able to afford repayments while renting? Move to a cheap rent for 6 months? Otherwise you are paying a higher amount just in stamp duty for the saving of repayments while building. How much will repayments be? As I said we got a cheque within a month of settling our land from the building a new house grant - would that help cover the repayments for a couple of months? Good luck with it all. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Well these guys are not looking good...
