Are you expecting them to attend to the remaining items on Monday or will they return after settlement? ------------------------------------------- Build Thread - Mainvue Emporio ER430 KDR https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76790&p=1332227&hilit=mainvue#p1332227 Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 222Sep 17, 2015 9:19 pm They resolved quite a few before Monday and since then we've had various people out and the rest is in the pipeline so all good. The floors go down tues - friday next week and then we can move in. My husband is building a retaining wall for the side of the driveway at the moment and preparing the garage floor for painting. I have started filling various cupboards with our stuff too and arranging all sorts of things. Today i got the tv antenna installed. Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 223Sep 17, 2015 9:32 pm That's excellent. I still can't believe it. Forgot all about the Antenna , where did they install it? In the roof, on top of the roof? ------------------------------------------- Build Thread - Mainvue Emporio ER430 KDR https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76790&p=1332227&hilit=mainvue#p1332227 Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 226Sep 20, 2015 8:30 pm So how is it going? Did you have a busy weekend organising things? Question, did you have any problems with phone connection? We have done provision for nbn, but won't have it in our area for a while. I have just heard that Optus will not go underground and if we want to stay with them we will have to have a cable, which defeats the purpose of underground electricity which we had to do. So I am trying to work out how the phone line works and gets from the overhead lines to the house/meter box? Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 227Sep 20, 2015 8:40 pm Hiya. Busy weekend yes. I'll post some photos tomorrow. We've painted the garage floor and built a concrete sleeper retaining wall. We requested a new telstra line and they said they'd do it on Friday but there are no visible lines rinning to the house as yet. We obviously have the electrical pit too. I'm expecting to see a line running to the house though because i think the pit is solely for electricity. If anyone had any further info on this please let me know! Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 229Sep 21, 2015 9:09 am Here's a couple of things I'm pleased we did. We moved the back bedroom windows to be hard up against the shared wall and also raised them a bit. It offers far more flexibility with furniture placement and a desk or bookcase etc can fit under the window. We put a powerpoint under the stairs. Useful. A lesson you might benefit from is...check the height of the overhead shower in your ensuite! Because my husband is 2m tall, we requested extra height (at over $2k cost). Mainvue forgot to action this initially though and the standard height shower was installed. It was only about 1850 off the shower base which is too low for many people. Also, if you are having a double oven tower, check the height of each oven and think about if you can see into the top one or if you could safely pull things in and out of the top oven. I am tall but i lowered them. Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 230Sep 21, 2015 9:01 pm Congrats on handover! I know what you mean about the finish quality on the stairs - what stain did you opt for? Our finish is a bit underwhelming - there are a few water stains from when trades spilt liquids (assuming coffee) on the stairs but did not clean it up. A couple of scratches which our supervisor is sending someone to come look at - as the stain is so light it accentuates the scratches. sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 231Sep 21, 2015 9:06 pm We went for the darker/mid stain but the finish is poor. Yes we have splatter marks where some liquid has stained the bottom two risers. I may even carpet it at some stage. If i had my time again I'd probably put in a kitchen myself too. I wonder what credit they offer for not doing a kitchen? Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 232Sep 21, 2015 9:42 pm Ha ha yes the kitchen, I think it depends on which cabinet maker you end up getting as they are different depending on what area you are building, not much flexibility for custom, and the soft close drawers are not as good as the last kitchen I renovated myself (we bought custom flat pack and installed ourselves but the runners were so smooth and quiet. I was surprised that the stone bench was not protected once installed and pretty much anything was dumped on it. Unfortunately I don't think you can build without them doing the kitchen as it would not pass occupancy certificate but I am no expert. Would be better to put in their basic kitchen as long as you had the right connections there and renovate it straight away. Though I do love the look of my kitchen, we still didn't manage to fit all of our stuff in it sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 234Sep 23, 2015 7:10 pm Semerson, love your house! It is such a difficult task to choose absolutely everything in one day. We certainly made mistakes! The walls are 1/4 hog bristle with lexicon white skirtings and arcs. In the roof, on top of the roof? I don't know what henley charge for an antenna but ours was installed after handover. The guy came out the same day i called. We were given options of antenna ranging from $170 to $350. It was done in literally 5 mins. Re: Building Mainvue Emporio 430 240Sep 24, 2015 8:01 am It is very difficult but you did very well.
