Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 24, 2015 10:51 am Hi everyone, I have been stalking this forum for months now and have decided I should join and add in my journey with Homegroup. We have signed a contract to build the Designer Retreat (Grand Retreat) and have been to our colour meeting. Apparently prestart will be in around 4 weeks. Once I work out how to add photos I will add my design and changes as well as some of the colours we have chosen. So far our experience with Home group WA has been fantastic and they have answered our questions really quickly. We are looking forward to the next step and I am hoping it doesn't take to long lol!! We are currently living in Tom Price so will be doing this build over the phone. It will make it a bit harder but at the same time each time we go down in school holidays there will be a big change since the last time we came down (fingers crossed anyway). I would love to hear other peoples experiences in the Southwest area and how quick or long their build was. If anyone has any tips before I go into prestart that would also be fantastic. I am looking at upgrading internal doors, the kitchen bench top from della vita to correstone, adding in pendant lights in kitchen as well as downlights and also the front door handles to the really large size. If anyone has any prices on these I would love to hear them. I look forward to sharing our build on this forum and hearing everyones thought on my colour choices It looks like a great forum to talk about ideas and also vent occasionally if needed lol!!

We are at the about the same stage as you at the moment and have nothing but good things to say about our experience so far. We added in most of our changes before we signed our contract. From memory, we paid roughly $650 to upgrade all our internal doors and $500 for the big pull lever handle on the front door. My OH is an electrician and will be doing our lighting so I can't help you with that. I'll be following your thread and keeping an eye out for your plans Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 3Apr 24, 2015 12:13 pm Exciting times! I've built from afar previously (living in Sydney, house in Perth), not having ready access can be quite advantageous and save you a lot of frustration at times. As you said progress between visits will be extraordinary! I would recommend engaging a local building inspector, it'll save you any angst (or time delays) if you can't make it down to site. Aside from that enjoy the experience. I'm currently planning another build in Margs, going to enjoy the SW lifestyle in the very near future! Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 4Apr 24, 2015 12:35 pm How exciting! Following to see how you go with managing the build from so far away. We are also in TP and looking to start our build in Mandurah next year, so we're a bit nervous about not being 'present' with everything. Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 5Apr 24, 2015 12:45 pm Thanks everyone for the comments already I have no patience so I think living far away will definitely work to my favour and also the poor supervisor who would see me everyday if I lived down south lol! Can anyone explain to me how to upload photos and reply to single messages, I am trying to work it out (not as easy as Facebook lol) My Home Group build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77067 Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 6Apr 24, 2015 12:49 pm Welcome to HgWA family koll1 We have been in our new place for 3 months now so our pricing might be a little outdated but if you check out page 1 of my thread there are quite a lot if costings there. We paid $350 for the large omni trilock pull handle and $750 to upgrade 13 internal doors to Rockport doors. Look forward to seeing your plans. Can you let me know if you can see them please My Home Group build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77067 Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 12Apr 24, 2015 3:02 pm Thanks Kellie - I do love the ensuite and the Scullery. I think they will be my 2 favourite places My Home Group build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77067 Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 13Apr 24, 2015 3:25 pm Thanks Asha also for the prices My Home Group build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77067 Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 14Apr 24, 2015 10:09 pm I like your floorplan and selections, very good taste. I think go with the planking on the right, as in the photo the one in the left is throwing orange and against the jarrah it will look more orange. Unless you want it more orange, then go for that one lol. Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 15Apr 24, 2015 10:35 pm Thanks sammyshomeadbenture We are happy with our choices so far I think. I like the vinyl planking on right too but hubby likes one on left. It will be a bit of a discussion over next couple of months lol!! Re: Building with Homegroup WA in Busselton 20Apr 25, 2015 7:02 pm JnM Luv your color selections, feature splash back tile looks unique. Following your build Thanks We are pretty happy with the selections so far. We wanted something that stands out in the 2 areas that sell (if we ever needed to to that). So the bathroom and Kitchen had to be a little different My Home Group build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77067 Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down.
