HI we took photos this afternoon and the sills are 2inches above the slab so they are not even close to being recessed. We will email these in to switch as the brickies are doing the internal outer walls now so it would be best for them to rectify now before they go to far. Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Soo excited!! Have a look at your plans as it should have the plan for the recessed sill. Just checked mine and it def looks like its recessed alot more than your picture. Good luck with the builders. Im going to make sure I check mine. Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Soo excited!! Brickies have starte 65Jul 16, 2015 11:01 pm valdez1 hmm doesnt look recessed to me. Im going to make sure I check mine. We have checked all the plans it should be recessed 49mm which it clearly is not. We tend to check everything the subcontractors don't seem to care which is not the builders fault but the SS should be onto it. look forward to seeing some pics Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Soo excited!! Brickies have starte 66Jul 16, 2015 11:34 pm unfortunately the SS dont get to visit the sites as much as we would like. With our last build (11 years ago) the builder built the wrong pitch roof, which the SS didnt pick up, but I did (my dads a retired builder)! They actually didnt believe that I picked up the problem and the owner of the building company sarcastically offered me a job if I 'really did' pick up the error - I asked him when I could start.... needless to say it didnt go too well! I understand and accept that sometimes things go wrong, all I ask is that its fixed with minimal fuss and red tape. Good luck, keep us up to date. fingers crossed Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Soo excited!! Brickies have starte 67Jul 16, 2015 11:41 pm It definitely doesn't look recessed. . As Valdez1 said things can go wrong as long as they are ready to fix it up with no more errors. Good atleast you picked up early so hopefully it could be rectified.. Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 68Jul 18, 2015 11:34 am So we met the brickies yesterday and they told us someone is going to come on Sunday and take down the back walls grind out or what ever they do to the slab and it will be all fixed yay!!! So no drama easy peezy. Now we are having fun with a neighbour who want the builder to pay for a flat tyre only $500 for 1 ... don't think so!! Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 69Jul 18, 2015 6:46 pm Petad Now we are having fun with a neighbour who want the builder to pay for a flat tyre only $500 for 1 ... don't think so!! Yeah right, good luck with that Petad's neighbour, I don't like your chances. Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 71Jul 21, 2015 4:47 am Oh wow.. all sorted now thats great Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 72Jul 29, 2015 11:14 pm ok so today we went to the block had a good sticky around as you do and noticed that the garage door is 25c we upgraded to 28c throughout to all external doors and windows. Then we noticed that the internal doors are 28c when they should be 25c hmmm. The old boy isn't bothered with the garage door as no one will see it as its around the side of the house the internals i'll live with as I don't want to have the house pulled down as we only have the garage and stackers to go. Thought anyone? So far we are very happy with the progress. door heights Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ garage Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ pano kitchen through to living with stackers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 73Jul 30, 2015 12:22 am Great to see progress Petad...and you are also keeping a close eye on things I see. I think that's the way to go Did you get charged additionally for the 28c height internal door height? If not, then I think it's great to have higher door heights. That being said, the builder seems to have got mixed up somewhere down the line in terms of the door heights? That being said, the builder seems to have got mixed up somewhere down the line in terms of the door heights? Hootie we feel we have to keep a close on things, we didn't get charged for the internal heights so we will leave it and take it as a bonus, it will be funny when they bring the 25c internal doors to hang though Our front retaining hasn't yet been fixed we are having a meet and greet with the SS tomorrow so I will find out more about that. archetto I'd be stocked with the internal door error however whilst your garage door isn't bricked in I would be straight on the phone and asking them to change it to 28c Hi Archetto the old boy is sending a pic to them he doesn't seem to bothered he would never have noticed if I didn't pick it up... really ! I'm really loving your house by the way. I do like the 28 internal so that's there error. You really have to be on top of everything don't you. Upward and onward Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 76Jul 30, 2015 10:53 am Hi Petad There is only one issue I see with 28c door heights and that is you might get constant cracking over the lintel? You will need to discuss the lintels and the one course mortar bed with your supervisor... ask for assurances. BTW I hope you dont have a 4WD as a 25c T-lintel is way too low So what often appears to be a win may not be in the long term Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 77Jul 30, 2015 5:22 pm StructuralBIMGuy Hi Petad There is only one issue I see with 28c door heights and that is you might get constant cracking over the lintel? BTW I hope you dont have a 4WD as a 25c T-lintel is way too low So what often appears to be a win may not be in the long term I'll do that the with the internal doors, the garage door I meant the side door to the garage not the opening. If that makes sense to you. Re: Switch Homes Sorrento.Stackers getting fixed !! 78Jul 30, 2015 9:30 pm I cannot believe that they will wear the cost of upgrading doors And frames to 28 c. Wooo hooo if they do Re: Switch Homes Sorrento. 79Aug 01, 2015 12:11 am So today we had our first site meeting with the SS stacker doors are now fixed, the garage side door is 25c they didn't inform us that a fiberglass only comes at 25c all good the internal doors stay at 28c our gain yay !!! The neighbour has now decided that there is a crack in the brick boundary wall and wants compensation but the crack has been there all along so good luck with that one, also when the land survey was done it showed it was built on our land. Brick work should be finished early next week as the crane is booked for wed/thur for the garage beam thingy. So full steam ahead.... now off to watch the golf. Re: Switch Homes Sorrento. 80Aug 01, 2015 12:19 am Bonus that you didn't get charged for the 28c internal doors! Yeah I guess the garage side door is one of those things...similar to our issue with the width of the sliding doors lol...anyway glad that it's all settled for you. Looks like things are moving forward well for you Oops, neighbour built their boundary wall on your land....
