The people across the road are building with rawson too - they knocked down last September and still going. Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 83Jul 07, 2016 2:51 pm Hi Everyone, we are just about to get our tender ordered for a Modified Metford33. Canberra_gal, we loved your pics. Great to see it coming along nicely. We are planing to kock-down and rebuild in Mawson. Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 84Jul 08, 2016 10:28 pm Hi Munty54, Congratulations! The Metford33 is such a gorgeous house I hope you're sitting down for the tender presentation. Variations add up way too quickly! But when you interrogate the prices they are not too bad. We knew we were paying a builder's premium of 20% on everything but we are so time poor we chose to see it as an investment We are just about at lock up (if we are not there already - we'll find out tomorrow when we visit!). Super doper excited about seeing the internals come together. We are really pleased with our external choices. I just want to move in now Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 85Jul 10, 2016 3:24 pm I've updated the blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/2016/07/10/we-got-plastered/ Plastering is finished and tilers have begun laying the base for the flooring in all of our bathrooms/powder room. Seven photos up on the blog. I still can't work out how to post them here. The IMG thingie is not working for me. We're about 10 weeks from PCI at this stage. Let's hope all continues smoothly Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 88Jul 10, 2016 7:29 pm munty54 I am sure you are eager to move in.. your choices were Fantastic!!! We will update as we go along.. is the average build time 6/7 months now? I think that may depend where you're building. It's certainly not that quick here. We will update as we go along.. is the average build time 6/7 months now? Build time has so many variables, and like Red said, it depends where you are. We are lucky being in Canberra - Rawson are building 100 homes per year (approx.) and they need to navigate a general shortage of tradies. Fortunately for us, our SS has been able to get most of the tradies on site in the right order so we've not suffered any major delays. Pre-con was excruciating slow, but once we got going it's been fantastic. Lots of progress - we are very close to lock up. Sorry to hear about your issues with the tiles - really poor form on their part. Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 93Jul 30, 2016 11:44 am Thanks Ezza and Algernon, Good to see it coming together. Bit nervous about our very blue kitchen. Won't know if it's going to look okay until it's in! Bit nervous about our very blue kitchen. Won't know if it's going to look okay until it's in! So hard to know if all those choices are right till you see them in your actual house! We've only seen bricks so far from among our long list of selections. What elements of your kitchen will be blue? We're doing lots of blue throughout our house - some blue in the bricks, bluey charcoal roof, blue grey cladding, navy feature wall. Hope it all works out! Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 95Aug 02, 2016 2:15 pm Anyone started packing their current house yet? Plumber was in yesterday putting in all the fittings to our bathrooms and kitchen. Sounds like a lot of things to happen this week so should see some more progress after this week - M33M Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 96Aug 02, 2016 7:12 pm We're months away from moving so we haven't started packing but we have started trying to get rid of some of our 10 years of accumulated crap in the current house. We have picked a target each school holidays for a big chuck out - so far we've done kitchen, study and linen. Turns out you don't actually need 20 old threadbare towels. Who knew? Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 97Aug 05, 2016 3:12 pm LOL. We have got 15 years of accumulated crap that we've been trying to get rid of too. Have chucked so much and still so much to go! This weekend will see us boxing up heaps of stuff to put into storage, as next Friday is when the photographer is coming to take photos of our townhouse so we can put it on the market. We've started to go a bit slow on our place. Not much has happened this past week. The carpenter has finished, so all the doors are hung. The tilers had just about finished last weekend so I imagine they've finished laying out all the tiles. They need to be grouted yet, so perhaps that's happened too. Guess we'll find out next week, as my husband will be on site as we have three different companies coming to quote on plantation shutters. We are at lock-up (although no garage door yet), so weekend visits will now consist of peering through windows unless there are tradies on site. Red, the kitchen cupboards are all blue! Snow (white) caesarstone benches should set it off nicely but we're hoping the blue won't be too much, especially as we have smoky blue light fixtures for the kitchen too! We are having midnight blue on the walls in our master bedroom and another dark/indigo blue in our lounge room. We are going for a luxe look in those rooms. We have a black feature wall in our study too and all the flooring is going to be dark chocolate bamboo/charcoal carpet. With pale gray/silver walls and white trim, we hope it will all come together nicely Fingers crossed! M33M good luck with the packing! I am dreading the unpacking at the other end :O Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 98Aug 05, 2016 3:32 pm Sounds like you've chosen some similar colours to us, so I hope yours looks awesome because if not, mine will probably look terrible too!! No blue cupboards for us, though, ours are grey. It's the camelot roof tiles I am most worried about but fingers crossed they'll be just right. Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 99Aug 06, 2016 10:35 am Hi Everyone, We have our tender presentation next week.. so exciting We will do a KDR in Mawson, Canberra Canberra_gal -- did you go for Aluminium frame for your windows or the siteline? We opted for double glazing as well and did some research and it seems that having thermal break is ideal subject to affordability.. I talked to STEGBAR and they offer a range "siteline".. wonder how expensive that would be Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 100Aug 07, 2016 11:14 am Hi Red, we had a peek at our place yesterday - it's at lock-up so we were looking through the windows, but our kitchen cabinets are IN and they look fantastic! I am beyond excited, as this means - all going well - we are about 8 weeks from handover. I can't imagine how it will be ready by then, as there is still so much to do, but that's our aiming point I hope your tiles look as good as you hope they will! It's nerve-wracking, that's for sure! Munty, welcome to the forum! We went with the bog standard windows throughout - double glazing to about 30%. Cost a fortune. The Stegbar siteline frames are gorgeous but we just couldn't afford them. We've already spent a small fortune in upgrades and had to draw the line somewhere We're really happy with the standard frames - they look very clean/modern. We might replace the feature window in our lounge room one day - if we ever have enough dosh. We'd like a full-pane window with no transoms. But that can most definitely wait Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ |
