How's everyone Metfords going?
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 62Mar 23, 2016 8:39 pm Well, our turn for plumbing to go in! Lots of piles of dirt being moved around and piping being laid in readiness for the slab. Slowly, slowly! Fingers crossed! Had a visit from our body corporate president today. A horrible, rude man. Cannot wait to be out from strata title. Of course, I'm sure we'll still need to deal with issues with our neighbours, but the ones we've met so far are just lovely Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 65Apr 19, 2016 7:42 pm We have a frame! Are the steel beams onsite and ready to go in? It's rather strange at this stage to have a roof, so i guess that's why they have quite a few 4x2's holding the roof up in the garage??? Need some close up pics of those bricks using Tapatalk Edge39.my-letter-box.com Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 74May 21, 2016 10:23 am Hi Steve, yep, steel rods holding up the house Our SS said they used to put the steel beams in before bricks, but they'd had a few topple so they've changed their approach. They put the beams in place once the bricks are laid and then there are no problems (apparently). We got our roof before bricks as brickies are under a lot of pressure in Canberra - residential housing boom in a bunch of new suburbs - and we have to take them when we can get them! Will get a close-up of the bricks when we do a drive-by over the weekend Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 75Jun 13, 2016 9:25 pm Well, bricks are complete and the plumbers have been through putting pipe everywhere. Air con is in and we meet with the electrician tomorrow. Progress is good, although now it's going to feel a lot slower, I guess, now that the 'big brush strokes' are pretty much done Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 77Jun 14, 2016 5:19 pm Thanks Red. When I typed our suburb name into the search bar I honestly wasn't expecting any hits - good to see someone else building locally, so I'll be following to see how it turns out! We're looking at doing our own build next year, although we haven't chosen a builder yet - until then I'll just live vicariously through other people's builds, like yours Re: Mightily Modified Metford 33 79Jul 02, 2016 6:18 pm Hi Algernon, it's a great suburb, with both of us living in it, obvs Our build is rocketing along. We are loving Rawson - been so professional so far. The biggest shock was how long pre-construction took. It took us 18 months from the time we decided on a Metford33 to when the slab was laid. So if you want to be building in 2017 you'll need to get a wriggle on! But once it starts, they are done in approx. 6 months (for a single storey). I've added nine new pics on my blog - plaster sheeting is in Woohoo! I tried to add a photo here but it's not working...
