You need to factor in the cost of levelling the slab (screeding), you can't just compare the flooring cost. Also, if there's an issue and they have to cut up your slab for some reason, or you have a problem with the slab (which I really hope doesn't happen!), you would have to repair the flooring yourself - whereas if they provide the flooring, they have to fix it. We kept the standard pull-out robe doors so can't help you with that one. And we got fixed price site costs. Good luck with the build, I love the Carmelle plan, it was one we seriously considered too! IIaeria - Thanks for that info, i thought it would have been just as easy as buying and having it layed, but the possibility of extra cost and work involved has scared me off. I think we will stick with floor offerings they have just to make life simpler for us. Can always look to upgrade things like the underlay, but fingers crossed ot isnt that much of a cost to us. Really hoping to save some funds for upgrades on other things. Thanks for your input on the screen doors Snyde, the retractable ones sounds like an awesome idea and one that the other half would want to go with. Had a read through your entire thread last night and gotta say those colour choices and changes you made are great. Might even have to sneak a few in on our proposed plan. Thanks guys Re: Plantation Homes (Queensland) 96Nov 05, 2015 9:49 am Also, from my own personal experience, when the house was done we just wanted to get in! If we'd had to wait a couple more weeks while the flooring was done we would have gone crazy. Our personal opinion and decision was that the small possible saving of doing it ourselves was not worth the hassle. The list of things to do post build plus upgrades were huge and we just werent excited at the prospect of having to do alot of work once handover was done. Where as with PH everything they had in their inclusion list was everything we wanted and more and only for a fraction more of the cost we had with Coral. Also for the first time in this whole build process we are actually excited about building. Re: Plantation Homes (Queensland) 99Nov 05, 2015 11:36 am My 2cents I had flooring done after handover, i believe we got a better product for same price as what plantation would have charged for basic tiles/carpet. But i don't know for sure as i didnt go back and get another quote from Plantation. Carpet call were available to lay them straight after handover so were only delayed another 2 days. We had extra cost of $260 to do some levelling of the concrete. I would get plantation to quote and go to carpet call direct and get a quote as well. We changed the wardrobe doors to sliding doors in one of the bedrooms due to layout of the room. They are just the standard vinyl ones. Our site costs were pretty standard except for a concrete retaining wall which was about 12k extra. Re: Plantation Homes (Queensland) 100Nov 05, 2015 12:07 pm We upgrade to mirror slinding much stronger and sturdier than the plain ones... $750 for a pair I think. We also had the big debate about flyscreens for the srackeds... 3 options... The retractable pleats... Timber framed flyscreens and the securview timber look doors. We went for the last option bit expensive $2600... But they're amazing sturdy and strong... Can leave them open all day because they're a security screnn Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I highly recommend them... We have timber flyscreens for the timber Windows... I wouldn't get them for high traffic doors... Too soft.. they look good but will break... 1 10482 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
