Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 2Apr 06, 2015 8:56 pm Hi homeowner01 we are in NSW & have signed contracts with them. We are really happy with them so far, they have gone out of their way to make us happy. I can't comment on the build as we are still waiting for land to register but they are making sure everything is ready prior to registration so they can start the build ASAP. With my experience so far I would highly recommend them. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 3Apr 06, 2015 9:11 pm Hi pink86, we have already settled on land and currently waiting for the council approval. It has been great with them so far but after we settled on the land it is still going to take a further 4 to 5 weeks before they start to build. I thought all the approval was sent through to council before hand. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 5Apr 06, 2015 9:34 pm We are building Advantage plus 233 with a few modifications. Which home are you building? They told me plans will take approx 4-6weeks with council & they send it to council just before land registration apparently. I think it does sound about right. Not sure about QLD but in NSW you can check the council website & follow your progress hopefully council will approve a bit sooner. Can I ask if you had to choose your colours from the colour boards already done up? We are struggling to choose as each board has 1 thing I want to change & I can't! Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 6Apr 06, 2015 9:50 pm We are building the same house. We had to choose the colours from what they already had. The only change we made was to extend the alfresco to the end of the house, put security screens on and an extra tv point in the kids area. We thought about putting shower niches in but decided against as they will hold water in and build mould. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 7Apr 07, 2015 5:34 am Its a great floor plan! Just out of curiosity which external colour & interior colour board did you choose? We are really stuck on it, been going crazy on the online visualiser! We are Bal 19 so had to get security screens put on all doors & windows anyway. The changes we made is the extended alfresco like yourself & the slab extended to under the eaves, I think we will deck it later on. We made ensuite shower 1.2m x 1m & with a lot of hassling them I changed the kitchen around to get a walk in pantry. We are adding quite a lot to the electrical plan & they told us we are best to deal with the sparky directly on site. Are you going to do a thread of your build I would really love to see your progress. Oracle are building a slightly modified Advantage Plus 233 display home at Cooranbong NSW, I can't wait for it to go up. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 8Apr 07, 2015 4:58 pm We are having the moon dust exterior and purity interior. We changed the Window frames to black to go with black security screens, I wanted this as I want to tint the Windows. I didn't add anymore electrical in as we have friends that are electrician. I heard that we are the first to build this home in Queensland, so the Queensland manager is keen to watch it progress. Just received an email today about the certification has been approved. I will do a blog once it gets started Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 9Apr 07, 2015 6:06 pm Thats so exciting! Moon dust will look great, we are after a dark roof too. We are leaning towards woodchip or bamboo exterior. We don't have purity to choose from but are leaning towards the cafe which is basically purity with dark brown floor tiles as I want the white benchtop & city facade. I am excited for you & good to know the Qld manager will be keeping an eye on things. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 10Apr 07, 2015 7:53 pm Yeah we thought we picked the best of what was available. We wanted a bright inside with light floors as the floors look a lot cleaner than dark ones with a little bit of dust or something. If you don't mind me asking how much did they charge for changing the pantry and shower Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 12Apr 07, 2015 9:34 pm Those prices aren't to bad. We didn't think of doing those changes. Our youngest will be 14 when we finish so won't be so bad. At least with your own home the kids can decorate the way they want to. We are also thinking of pulling the carpet up after a couple of years and putting floating floors in. I also have a Carpenter mate to make changes after. I bet the young ones will be excited about the build. Mine are arguing about witch room will be theres. Wr sat the kids down and went over all the different plans and they all picked the same one so went with it. Are you building on a big block? Ours is only 450sqm Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 13Apr 07, 2015 9:40 pm The sales rep looked at my fiance & said I think you should have a bigger shower lol. They told us we couldn't make any changes. We signed tender without the wip. I would stare at the plan everyday until I had what I thought was an amazing idea to add the pantry. I drew it up & took it into the sales office, it took a bit of pursuading but they did it. Apparently our next door neighbour is also building similar design with the same wip so they copied their kitchen plan. I was so happy. I will send you a pm. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 14Apr 07, 2015 10:11 pm We nearly had the same thing happen to us but the decided to change estate. They also told us that they wouldn't let them have the same selection as we have got. They didn't want the same look of house beside each other. We have just under 4m at the rear, but there is a park with free wifi 300m away. I wanted to build on acreage but my wife likes city living. I couldn't complain as I work a lot of hours. Your plan looks great with the wip. Did you put the extra tv point in the kids activity area? We are on natural gas and was going to get an outlet in the alfresco but decided to wait until I see the area. Putting it in after won't cost as much. I know the company that has done the gas all through the estate and he said he will do it after. Oracle quoted $450 to put it in. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 15Apr 07, 2015 10:56 pm Lucky you changed estates then! Bonus about the park! You could spend all day there & on your ipad lol. Backyards are overrated I say. We would have loved an acerage but couldn't afford it. You had me double check our electrical plan because I didn't add it. We have a tv point included already. We have 4 in total as standard in living, media, bed 1 & kids area. That's good to know about the gas point, we are on natural too & did think about adding it on later. Are you getting your electrician friend to connect your NBN & phone? They quoted us $1,600 for this! Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 16Apr 07, 2015 11:08 pm Will be getting him to add in extra power points in each room. We want to have a minimum of 2 and a couple in the alfresco area. Will make it easier for cleaning and also a fan in alfresco. I want to see if they will leave bricks behind so I can make a bench for the bbq to go on and bar fridge under. My wife is so excited making a note book with pictures from the junk mail of what she wants. One is she wants to put a shower and bath outside for her to relax in, as no room for a pool Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 17Apr 08, 2015 6:22 am Yes we have the same idea about about the extra powerpoints we had about 8 extra to add & fan in alfresco. I am also putting a fan in kids area, possibly an air con in kids area but will see how it goes first in summer. Also adding pendant lights over kitchen bench, a few downlights out back under eaves, extra data point in media & move all tv points up the wall to wall mount all TV's. Thinking about a water point for fridge but not sure how much this costs? Do you know the width of fridge space? I think its 900mm but not really sure. Thats a great idea about the bar fridge, I think I will put ours in the wip. Haha what a great idea your wife has! You could get a small spa bath! Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 18Apr 08, 2015 9:20 pm My wife certainly has a lot of ideas. Our fridge space is 900 wide. Have already measured our fridge to make sure it fits. Had to email back more paperwork today so things starting to move along. I reckon around the $500 mark to connect water to the fridge. I work for a plumbing supplies business and have a rough idea of prices for parts. We are going to install a water filter in with the kitchen sink. Another thing that I would suggest is buy mini ball valves to hook up to your flexi hoses. When you need to change valves you only need to turn each one off as you fix it, not the water to the whole house Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 19Apr 09, 2015 6:44 am 900mm is ok for fridge, ours should fit. That's great, more paperwork is a good sign! $500 is good for water connection, I thought it was going to be alot more than that. Thanks for the tip. Yes a water filter will come in very handy! Our land is supposed to be ready in July so we still have a bit of a wait before anything exciting happens yet. Re: Building new Oracle home in Queensland 20Apr 09, 2015 10:28 pm Just make sure to put the tap in the plans for the fridge otherwise you have to take the sheeting off and hook it all up. I think you are getting different numbers because they all just based them on "other jobs" even though each job is unique.
