Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3981Aug 28, 2017 10:27 pm I was hoping to be checking in and finding a start date Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3983Aug 30, 2017 7:47 am oh dear tribe.....at least you are keeping your sense of humour. Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3984Aug 30, 2017 3:05 pm Oh Tribe, sorry it's all not going well! I haven't been on for ages as the whole building thing was getting me down but jumped on today to see some good news. You will find what you are wanting soon enough and will be totally worth the wait! And yes from a while back I will be able to grow a lot of veggies at our place. I plan on donating them to the care van in our area that feeds the homeless. If I can actually grow something 😂😂 I have killed a Yukka plant before Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3985Aug 30, 2017 10:36 pm Thanks WOF I do try to see the fun in things, no point being a sad sack. I just finished completing the enrollment paperwork for my eldest to start high school next year OMG that's a reality check and a half, I really need to get this new build sorted before she is too cool to want to help me with the wheel barrow . Hello Abuild, I don't blame you for not hopping on often it's a bit painful when nothing is happening. All will be fine with the builder, when it's meant to be it will happen, I might of just found the right company too . I think that's a fantastic idea to be able to give back to the community with your produce, the care van will appreciate them greatly. bahhahahshhs I did laugh about the yukka though. I've just planted a heap of palms, yukkas, spider lillies, tiger grass, cordylines and a many other things up the back of our paddock so they have time to grow for the new house, at the rate I'm going I'll have fully grown trees hahhahahha. Try tomatoes first AB, mine went wild and I was giving away bags and bags of them, they are very hard to kill so you will be fine Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3986Aug 31, 2017 12:05 am Awesome idea planting all of your plants now! Hehehe for your sake I hope you can replant them sooner than when they're trees otherwise you'll have a forever forest down the back I tell you we tried to relocate our 5 year old hedges and oh balls it's impossible! High school! Oh my! I'm sure she'll grow up continuing to love outdoorsy things like her parents Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3987Aug 31, 2017 7:32 pm Tribe7 Thanks WOF I do try to see the fun in things, no point being a sad sack. I still laugh about the Yukkas! How I've manage to keep children alive to high school next year too, I'll never know 😂😂 such a great idea to get your garden a head start! It will be beautiful once your in! It seems today we have been dealt the final blow in our building debacle and now have to come up with a new dream/plan! First being putting up a for sale sign on our block. Onwards and upwards though the next block or house will have more acreage so I'd better learn about this gardening thing! 😂😂 always a silver lining, you will find yours Tribe Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3988Aug 31, 2017 8:21 pm Hey Tribe, Sorry about the setback! High school! Oh my! I'm sure she'll grow up continuing to love outdoorsy things like her parents I did think that cat, I'm a also wondering where I'm going to actually plant them too, as I won't have the retaining walls ready nor garden beds oh good heavens that would be a nightmare trying to dig up a 5 year old hedge, did you manage it? I'm trying to find something to hedge our side boundaries with, 97m long and I do not want to see our neighbours (stupid open acreage fencing gives no privacy) Mr T said no tiger grass it will drop too many leaves and make the neighbours grumpy. Oh yeah Cat, high school. I'm almost as daunted by it as her. She loves dirt so I hope that doesn't change. Makes me laugh she is starting high school soon and our youngest is almost 3. How are you going with your build now? Any closer to a site start? I bet you can't wait to show your daughter once you get started. I can't wait to see your plans Yes we have found a builder that we are very happy with, we have paid our deposit, gotten the ball rolling and I went for our pre colours look through today. Mr t was happy with the choices so we will lock them in when we do colours. Once we have our plans I'll start a new thread, bugger all to post at the moment. Homework levels have jumped but they cope.... I have just had to try and remember so much maths that I forgot about . Re our build, have just had to go to a new engineer for a second opinion as the first set of engineering tripled our footing costs, the builder couldn't believe it. So another 3 week wait until we get the next quote. Fingers crossed it comes back down again. We have pretty much made all our selections, we have had a lot of spare time whilst we wait for engineering etc so that has kept us motivated. Once I feel this will really happen I will start a thread and pop up some plans. Yay you have a new builder..... you have done so many colour appointments in the last 3 years you must be an absolute expert by now. You should go into interior design! In fact when I get to the stage of styling my house, I hope you will still be on the forum as I am going to need your help Re: Housing the Tribe, Gold Coast 3997Sep 03, 2017 12:22 pm i have no idea why the system does that, it post one version with the quote and not my reply and then another with everything aaahhhhhh! Oh man that's frustrating, is there a reason the engineers upgraded the requirements or they are just over engineering it? Any news on the pricing yet?
