When did you plant the seeds? Hopefully now spring is here it should take off? If you don't mind me asking, what was the price comparison between turf and seed incl the top dress/underlay soil. We did the seeds around the end of February. I think with dirt (8cu) and seeds it was around $450 (that's buying a hose/sprinkler/shovel too) and turf was going to be around $700 (not including dirt - dirt was around $350 by itself) We built the Rathdowne with Simonds Express in Western Melbourne Site start Oct. 2015 Keys Jan. 25th, 2015 My build thread -here- Re: Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 563Sep 25, 2016 7:46 pm Thanks Meg! That's a whole lot different to the quote for turf we were given if 7k seeds might just be the go Holy cow!! How much turf are you getting? We were looking at about 82 m2. Seeds are economical if you do it properly (main cause of seed failure is not watering enough) and are willing to wait. I originally didn't want to wait but the cost difference won me over. I think, even though our grass it patchy, it is a lot healthier than our neighbour's lawn (they did turf). I am still very nervous about tomorrow's meeting though! I just spent 45 min on my hands and knees washing the floor and now I'm about put down blue tape (again) where all the defects are Our daughter's asthma has been out of control (literally) since the grout was done. Probably unlikely but you shouldn't have to live with the chaos it'll create I agree. Probably a big ask but it's affecting your daughter. I'm usually pretty relaxed with most things - 'accidents happen', 'as long as it's getting fixed' etc, but when my kid's concerned I think the Mama Bear would come out in me. Surely with all the blue tape they see they'll have to agree to replace the tiles. viewtopic.php?uid=71435&f=31&t=82862&start=40 Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 571Oct 12, 2016 7:33 pm matalee Marshall5858 They should put you up in a hotel too, it's not gonna be any good for your daughter with all the dust they will create. With just doing the grout it was 3 days of not being able to use the showers and this will surely take longer than that. And then there is the mess and dust and the rest of the disruption (furniture moved, stove disconnected, washing machine moved, etc). I re-did the tape in the dining area this afternoon: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (Edit: pardon the balloons, it was my daughter's birthday last week ) We built the Rathdowne with Simonds Express in Western Melbourne Site start Oct. 2015 Keys Jan. 25th, 2015 My build thread -here- Re: Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 572Oct 12, 2016 8:29 pm Oh my that's a whole lot of blue - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 573Oct 12, 2016 8:34 pm Yeah that's a crazy amount of blue tape, I really feel for you being in this situation I would go insane, I couldn't bare living with that going on under my feet Re: Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 574Oct 13, 2016 7:36 pm Tiles are being replaced in the whole house! We are being put up somewhere while they do it! There is a chance we can swap out the tiles in the kitchen/dining & entry for floorboards (colour suggestions please!!!!). We will hopefully know by next week what our timeline will be. Fingers crossed things go according to plan and things are done correctly this time. If so you might prefer a timber look laminate tile as opposed to the floating timber style? - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 578Oct 13, 2016 9:42 pm needsausername Woah. No idea if we are hard wearing or not lol It will be of equal/lesser value to the tile, whatever we get - if it gets approved. I think the express houses have a laminate option now so there might already be a colour pre-chosen that goes with what we've picked. Such a good outcome. Big decisions to make with the floorboards, I love the look of floorboards. Simonds Express - Rathdowne - Western Melbourne 580Oct 14, 2016 4:29 am hey Megs, just caught up. I remember your tile problem from way back. After all your grout sealing too (painful job)! Way to go Simonds! If they employed their own trades instead of contracting I reckon they'd be more productive, financially successful and respected (quality would be much easier to control). Their staff are all awesome. The trades let them down. You hear stories that all builders screw the trades on price. - but offering job security and treating as valued employees, they'd have their loyalty and respect. They'd take pride in their work - working for a respectable, quality company. Anyway, awesome. Sorry you've been through that for so long. Oh and ain't Tecnika stoves ? I read a few ppl had said that earlier but I dismissed, now kicking myself! My old electric Chef and Westinghouse were sooooo much better. Can't wait for it to blow up so I can replace it!
