Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2015 10:22 am Hi guys, I have decided to start a build thread as i have been following a few myself with great interest. My partner and i have purchased a 4066m2 block in the new section of Jimboomba woods. We noticed there are a fair few GJ homes in there so we decided to go with something a little different. After many trips to the display villages in Yarrabilba talking to numerous builders we have decided to go with Coral homes (Longreach 302) We have just received our soil test back (M Class thank god!) and are awaiting the return of the contracts and tender letter so we can get this show on the road. Will be posting pictures and updating the thread as things are happening. Any feedback or advice will be greatly appreciated! If so how much extra was it roughly? I'm thinking that being a acreage build just down the road, you might find double height bricks will be a good look for out here. I did mine with Boral Sandstone Gold double height bricks. Of course being a project builder, they may charge a premium to do it in double height, even though you almost halve the number of bricks, the price goes up because they are a bigger brick. So halve the bricks, double the cost, should mean pretty damn close to the same price if I'm guessing right. I know my brickies didn't care what size bricks, as they said it cost no more either way... just different mortar was more expensive going for off white mortar.... on my blog you will see pictures of my place with offwhite mortar and another place with the same bricks done in standard mortar.... glad I went with off white ! Re: Coral Homes - Longreach 302 in Jimboomba Woods Build Thr 6Mar 31, 2015 8:19 am I haven't done double height, but I think a couple of them were on the standard price list for Coral. Can't remember which ones though (light colours though I'm pretty sure) and have no idea what I've done with the selections list so can't look it up for you - sorry! Emailed the SC yesterday afternoon as i thought we had a choice of upgraded bricks as we have upgraded the facade.. He advised it would cost roughly an extra $800 for double height? Our plan is to go a light double brick with a woodland grey roof. Personally I think that if a house takes 4000 single height bricks, going double height should at first glance take around 2000 double height bricks (you'll still need to have some single heights in there). Double heights should be marginally less than two single height bricks, but to make it easier say twice the price. Anyway, I'm guessing the $800 might be the extra you pay for off white mortar, which sounds about normal. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Is the $800 a firm price? No this is just a rough price the sales consultant gave me. I asked to have it on the tender but he advised i can change these things during colour selections? Not to sure, i'd rather have it on the new home tender before i sign anything...
