Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 42Apr 24, 2015 10:28 pm Ok so i feel like i need a stamp with my signature for all the paperwork that needs signing! We are definitely moving forward, off to pick our tile selection on the 29/4 so currently looking for colour ideas on pinterest and we are all booked in for prestart on the 4/5 . It feels like just yesterday we signed up to build but at the same times feels like forever ago. Im so much more excited now seeing our elevation and proper measurements for benches and hallways ect ( im not the best when it comes to picturing distance i need a tape measure ) We have gone through plans with a fine tooth comb (h2b says im a perfectionist) and noted any changes we want to make not a huge list thankfully and i dont think our electrical additions are going to be too bad either, im not sure why but i was expecting a lot of stupid placements for lights and switches. Love the fini wenge;) I'm with you on not being able to visualise. I need to see things laid out for me. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 46May 01, 2015 6:15 am OMG I love your ensuite - and the feature tile is gorgeous! Really like the laundry tiles too - I'm starting to think it is a good thing I can't visit the tile shops hehe I'd probably be changing tiles daily Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 48May 01, 2015 8:37 am It looks like a lovely plan I'm a huge fan of sculleries I'd be careful to ensure the door to the pantry was big enough to accommodate a fridge though - the newer fridges are pretty big and I know there have been some cases where appliances didn't actually fit It looks like you could have a larger door opening though so all should be fine! Also, there is a school of thought that says you should have your fridge, stove and sink in a close-ish triangular 'formation'. With that in mind I'd probably move the sink closer towards the pantry, and the gas hob closer to the pantry too. It would also mean you have much more open 'useable' space on both benches? But this is just my opinion we all have different ways of using our living spaces Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 49May 01, 2015 5:38 pm Didn't even think of the door being big enough 😅 thanks for that Mal Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 50May 04, 2015 10:34 pm Prestart went well today. No major changes other than the kitchen rearrange just waiting for prices. Will post selections once everything has been finalized. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 51May 05, 2015 1:51 am So glad to hear it went well ColleyCrew - can't wait to see your selections Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 52May 29, 2015 10:14 pm Been away for a while with nothing to report. Had a slight technical problem with our pricing for pre start so it took 2 weeks longer than it should have which I'm not really happy about but I guess these things happen. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with the costings we got back, I was terrified we were going to go way over budget! We added a few extra lights and DGPO's around the house, 4 led down-lights to the theatre room and a LOT of conduit/blank faceplates. In the kitchen we have swung the fridge recess into the WIP and extended the rear bench to the wall, made the WIP door larger to 820 from 720, 3 sets of pot draws, sliding bin draw, character form fascia on benches through out the house (I can't stand the square edges) and our diamond gloss laminex benchtop <---I could die at the price of this but its so pretty looking and I really want it. I have also changed my mind about my splashback like 50 million times but I have finally found what I want! We have extended tiling to rangehood height and gone with a subway tile in a dark grey. I'm excited to see what this kitchen turns out like. Main bathroom we have extended the vanity slightly and got a nib wall, upgraded the bath so it is slightly bigger, tiles have been extended up to be in line with splashback behind vanity. Ensuite we have upgraded the shower rose and we got our niche (yay so happy ) we have also changed the master bedroom windows to start at 0c instead of 9c on the plans We upgraded both toilets to soft close lids, added 3 blade fans with lights to all bedrooms and we are getting rockport doors through out. We have however decided to stick with the standard front entry door and standard garage entry door and change them ourselves after handover, we just can't justify the price they would charge us for the upgrade. External choices We are having Midland Silverbirch brick with grey brick joint, windows and doors will be black, roof gutters and fascias will be Colourbond Monument, downpipes and meterbox are night sky, garage door is Tuscan design in Monument again and we have charcoal paving with pewter boarder. Internal door frames and doors will be solver sail boat, who would have thought there would be so many shades of white! This was by far the hardest decision of the day We also had to rethink our flooring options, we had our heart set on bamboo for the living areas but unfortunately our budget is just not going to stretch that far so we are now looking at a blackbutt laminate which we really do love. So now we wait for building approval which we have been told takes at least 6 weeks. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 53May 30, 2015 4:13 am Oh wow ColleyCrew it sounds like you've had a very productive time choosing all your finishes!! It sounds lovely We're also considering having fans with lights in the bedrooms but we'll have to do that afterwards! Can't wait to see some pics of your tiles and other selections! Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 54May 31, 2015 9:20 pm We originally had fans with no lights but between trying to centralize the fan in the room and figure out where to put the light plus air con duct it was easier to do light/fan combo. Its what my parents have at the moment so its what im used to Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 55May 31, 2015 9:26 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Im terrible when it comes to taking photos and completely forgot when doing pre start so good old google stepped in! Love your sparkly glitter tile selections and floor plan is very different - its so good so see something different with the way all the bedrooms are structured. Awesome stuff! Thanks Justin I have been quietly following a few builds for inspiration and ideas. It definitely helps a lot as a first time builder! Our plan is very similar to a design by summit that we accidentally stumbled across a few years ago when looking at display homes unfortunately our plan is a new design for Redink so no display house to look at. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 58Jun 12, 2015 10:17 pm Love your plan and selections ColleyCrew! Will be following your build to see it all come together . Nice huge block too!! Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 60Jun 13, 2015 7:28 pm Thanks ourmansion Mal im hoping it will go together nicely, the silverbirch is one of the newer bricks so havent seen a lot of houses using it. I like to be different haha Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8939 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
