Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 22Apr 07, 2015 2:39 pm Not the best picture but you can see the sink is towards the right side. We put in a pull out garbage bin between sink and the end of island so whatever the width of the bin drawer is how far from the end the sink is. Hope that makes sense. I can check my plans for you if you need the measurements. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 24Apr 07, 2015 5:30 pm It was around $650 as I remember!! We've put a cupboard in without a shelf and will be buying something similar from Ikea!! Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 26Apr 07, 2015 5:34 pm We spent a small fortune at Pre-start. Fortunately we knew we were going to and budgeted accordingly (mainly thanks to Ardie's list of costs!!) but the prices of some things just don't make sense! Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 27Apr 07, 2015 5:45 pm Im hoping *fingers crossed* we dont got to crazy we have done all the main changes and have it costed in PCQ its just the upgrades on a few things. Will put up the wish list when im on the computer. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 28Apr 07, 2015 5:47 pm Yep that bin drawer was $660!!! Totally ridiculous. We went back and forth on it and looked at doing it ourselves afterwards. In the end we bit the bullet and included it, but yes all those little things add up very quickly. If you're at all handy I'd say do it after handover. They have some very similar ones at Masters and Bunnings and, as Nikki mentioned Ikea. Yep ask away and we'll do our best to help you out with costs. Between all of us we can probably give you the price of almost anything Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 29Apr 07, 2015 5:50 pm So glad i found this site definitely makes the process easier to understand and less daunting. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 30Apr 07, 2015 6:29 pm Ok so as far as upgrades i LOVE the oversided front door which is savoy xs26 (little concerned about if this will actually fit our house cos i dont have working drawings as yet otherwise second choice would be one of the corinthian madison doors. Rockport internal doors We have sliding robe doors included in our package but im not sure if it cost extra for the mirrored ones? Front door lock - Trilock angular I can live without the upgrade for glass rangehood but curious on price? I rearranged the laundry so have price for the inset laundry tub in pcq Stylus Venecia toilet Everything else we are pretty much happy with standard range Id like draws in the kitchen rather than cupboards I have the price for double rebated front door frame just have to remember to mention at pre start Any suggestions on things im missing? Thanks Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 31Apr 07, 2015 6:59 pm Oh my gosh i keep forgetting that i also want a shower recess in the ensuite. Really need to write a list for pre start so i dont forget anything Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 32Apr 07, 2015 9:12 pm ColleyCrew Ok so as far as upgrades i LOVE the oversided front door which is savoy xs26 (little concerned about if this will actually fit our house cos i dont have working drawings as yet otherwise second choice would be one of the corinthian madison doors. I don't know about the savoy door but our corinthian doors were $756 to upgrade both. In the end it was cheaper for us to have two upgraded doors than one large upgraded one. Rockport internal doors Not sure about rockport. We upgraded internals to corinthian deco series and it was $95 each door. The motive series were $74 each. We have sliding robe doors included in our package but im not sure if it cost extra for the mirrored ones? I'm pretty sure mirrored is the standard option. We didn't pay extra. Front door lock - Trilock angular The trilock contemporary angular was $430 I can live without the upgrade for glass rangehood but curious on price? We had 2 with flat glass quoted. Westinghouse WRFG943S was $265 and Chef CG920FGS was $145. Not sure about the curved glass ones. I rearranged the laundry so have price for the inset laundry tub in pcq Stylus Venecia toilet We went with the prima II close coupled which was $85 each. The Venecia wasn't an option when we had prestart, really wish it had been. All the wall faced that we had quoted wrre caroma or fowler and very exxy. Everything else we are pretty much happy with standard range Id like draws in the kitchen rather than cupboards Each kitchen drawer is $193 I have the price for double rebated front door frame just have to remember to mention at pre start Any suggestions on things im missing? Thanks Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 33Apr 07, 2015 9:14 pm Sorry my responses are all written within the quoted reply above. Didn't mean to do that. Hard to read, sorry. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 34Apr 07, 2015 9:44 pm No thats fine ardie thanks heaps definitely gives me an idea Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 35Apr 07, 2015 10:42 pm Have a scroll through the "things you forget" thread too. I got heaps of ideas from there. Probably too many!! Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 36Apr 08, 2015 4:13 am Ardie, is that price per drawer not bank of drawers, right? Ie, the size of the drawer doesn't matter as such. For the double rebated front door I was charged $50. We also had the mirror sliders as standard, not sure whether this is always the case. If you can - go and have a look at options for the cabinets and handles especially before prestart. Ardie warned me about that and we still ended up only having a few mins to look and ask and decide. It was very much a prestart afterthought. While the colour consult was invaluable she didn't really talk us through any of the handle options as such - not that I could remember anyway. We ended up getting quotes that were outrageously expensive. What we should have asked for with hindsight was quotes for different sizes of the ones we liked rather than only 3 completely different ones. So we only really had one that was viable to choose from when we got costings as we couldn't go back to look at more. Re rangehood - we didn't upgrade to a glass one, but to another one that looks like but got better reviews than the standard. I think PanRaptor on here had the same one and I got the recommendation from her. I may remember incorrectly though it feels like ages ago! The one we opted for was "WRC913S Westinghouse Rangehood" for $245. Re shower recess do you mean like niches? Basically it depends on the size of the wall you want the recess to be against, as it is effectively another layer of bricks, apart from where the recess goes. For our bathroom the price quoted was $524 and for the ensuite this was $680. That is without having special tiles/feature tiles or whatever in the recess itself. So think about how big you want it to be, look at your shampoos etc and see how high you'd want it etc so that you're prepared. Regarding front door, we opted to go for a bog standard one, size 820cm with a 40cm translucent glazing to the side. We also didn't choose very expensive front door handles/locks. This is because we'll have security screens in front of it so you'll be hiding it a bit! Thought I'd spend it on the security door instead. But I do suffer from door envy looking at all the beautiful glazed wide doors on here! Have you specified obscure glazing for the bathrooms and wcs? You might choose not to, but it is something you have to actually ask for. You don't pay extra for obscure glazing though. We also chose to have sliding windows in the wc rather than the strange permavent ones! If you could, consider where you want light switches to be and power points, and how many you want. Also where you want data, tv and telephone points (I'm not convinced we got this right we really don't have a clue - we'll find out eventually!). Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 37Apr 08, 2015 10:32 pm Thanks guys huge help. Yeah MalSannie shower niches is what i meant i couldn't remember the proper term. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 38Apr 16, 2015 10:19 pm So we got our site-work costing back today. I'm a little devo'd that its going to cost more than the PCQ said but i know it could be much worse, however we have saved some money by moving the house 500mm to the left so it wont be as much as the initial costing. Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 39Apr 21, 2015 7:12 pm Yay excited to pick up building contracts tomorrow 😁 Re: Redink Midwest First Time Builders 40Apr 22, 2015 3:49 am Congrats ColleyCrew - glad to hear you're making good progress in your build journey!
