Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 27, 2015 4:17 pm Hi, OH & I are still discussing volume or private builder, as we're on a sloping block. Any recommendations for private / small time builder who has experience with sloping blocks greatly appreciate, PM is fine if you prefer. I'm also interested in using a combination of stump & slab (makes more sense on our block) rather than cut & fill for full slab and I believe volume builders don't like to do stump build as its longer. We're 10km north of Melb CBD in Pascoe Vale, knockdown rebuild. Many thanks Re: Small / Private Builder Recommendations - Melbourne's No 4Apr 13, 2015 11:44 am Hi PVBuild It took us a long while to find a builder willing to build on our sloping block in our budget. Our block slopes up from the road with 8m of fall We ended with a builder in Pakenham, we did speak with other builders and other Hotondo Home franchisee's but had no success there. How much fall do you have on your block? I guess it could not hurt to give them a call and have a chat. Hope this helps. We're 3.5 to 4m, and 2m of that is in the front 3m of the block (ie - not the building envelope). The building envelope flattens out a quite a lot. So far we're looking at BH Prestige & CC Designer homes, I've been in touch with Hotondo as well. I'd be interested to see your plans & progress pics if you do a thread! Having said that I'm also in the same boat, i have a narrow and sloping block and am currently getting plans done and some private builders to quote. Re: Small / Private Builder Recommendations - Melbourne's No 8Apr 29, 2015 11:13 am Thanks Christoshizz. We've followed BH over the last 4 years (creepy!) and seen all their display homes that are now privately owned, and we've never failed to be impressed. I'm a little torn as I kind've wonder whether going with them is a bit heart over head stuff (I'm sure we could get a build that's cheaper, but may not be the same quality or the same 'look' - including the exterior). Let me know who you decide on! Hi, can anyone recommend a custom home builder who can build in north east area? Looking to build a custom 4-br energy-efficient home with a max budget of 750k.
