Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 24, 2015 11:45 pm I'm late getting my blog and thread going - not very technically savvy! But thought it best to start one a) to share my experience with others as I have gained so much from previous builders and b) there is noone who wants to hear me talk about me house build as much as I want to! _________________ Blog |http://phoenix38sydney.blogspot.com.au H1 Thread |https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76574 Re: Metricon Phoenix 38 - St George Area of Sydney 2Mar 24, 2015 11:46 pm Here is a timeframe of what's happenned so far:- 14/07/13 First inspection of Metricon display home 14/12/13 Request for tender and paid initial deposit 20/01/14 Preview estimate signed 18/02/14 Tender / Preliminary contract meeting 26/03/14 Re tender received (switched house design) 01/04/14 Preliminary contract signed and further deposit paid 30/04/14 Contract meeting 30/04/14 External colour appointment at Studio M 19/05/14 Contract signed and 5% deposit paid 26/06/14 Contract signed with Demolisher (to remove old house on block) 15/07/14 DA for new home submitted to council 31/07/14 Internal appointment at Studio M 14/08/14 Electricals signed 15/10/14 DA for new home, decision deferred by Council 19/11/14 DA for new home approved by Council 21/12/14 Demolition started 09/01/15 Demolition complete 16/02/15 Handed from the admin team to the construction team 18/02/15 Site survey 19/02/15 Pegs indicating where site is to be scraped 23/02/15 Welcome phone call and letter from Construction Support Coordinator (CSC) 26/02/15 First phone call from Site Supervisor (SS). Re: Metricon Phoenix 38 - St George Area of Sydney 5Mar 26, 2015 9:35 pm MrsJM Sounds exciting! I wouldn't be pleased either re digger on slab! Not that I know whether that's as issue from a structural perspective lol. How have you found Met to deal with? Interesting question MrsJM. I have to say this is my one and only experience with the building industry so I have nothing to compare it to. I will give you some comments on each of the stages as our experience has varied with each. 1. Sales - From day 1 their sales consultants were on the ball - the person we dealt with had been with the company for 10 years and really knew they designs and how we could tweak them to suit us. His estimates of our extra costs (which were significant due to rear sloping block) were right on the money. I'm glad we had him to work with and he could not have been more helpful if he tried. 2. Tender - Our tender presenter was equally wonderful. Promptly replied to all our emails and requests for information and was open to changes that we requested 3. Contract - Contract presenter was not quite as good. We had to follow them up on several occassions and in the end I gave up on a couple of things I asked for as I just wanted to move forward and didn't want to wait (my fault and in hindsight I should have pushed harder at this stage). 4. CSC - was friendly and phoned every fortnight as they were supposed to but I feel she was new and didn't really have the experience to help us through this stage (though in fairness we had some not small hiccups during our 5 months at Council). 5. Studio M - consultant was brilliant - patient and responsive to questions. Could not have been more helpful. 6. Site Supervisor - it's only been a few weeks and I've only met him once so too early to say. 7. Trades (not M staff but still worth discussing I think) - the ones I have spoken to have been great - knowledgable, friendly and hardworking. Overall I'm happy to date. Hope that helps _________________ Blog |http://phoenix38sydney.blogspot.com.au H1 Thread |https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76574 Re: Metricon Phoenix 38 - St George Area of Sydney 6Mar 26, 2015 9:39 pm lincoln29 Hi Gnaters.
